    Engine compatibility

    Good afternoon
I am looking to buy a Golf cab 2013 with a low compression cyl on no2.

It currently has an engine with a prefix of CTH. Can anyone tell me if the other 1.4TSI engines can be fitted using the turbo and manifolds from the original car or direct me to a chart which details what was fitted to what etc please (CAXA CAV etc)?

Or what is the success rate of a rebuild with a 1.4 please?

    Thanks
    Nick

I will say proceed with caution if playing with the infamous (for all the wrong reasons) 1.4 TSI twincharge 118TSI engine.

Yes the other engine codes can be used, BUT the 2013 model you have is the "best" out of a bad bunch and has updates to software and engine components (different pistons and oil squirters) to try and increase the reliability of the engine.

Most people who have earlier model Mk6's (like 2009-2011) will replace the engine with a later model like what is currently in your car to get the updated engine.

Some people have gone down the rebuild route, but its far more expensive than simply buying an engine from a wrecker and throwing it in and praying it will work for a few years.
