Hey guys I just need to clarify a few things,
This is my wish list
Wheels (more than likely BSA G2-179 should look good)
tune (DNA)
Type R tail lights (now all the info I can gather is,some say I need to do the vacom (or whatever) to tell the car whats going on and some say no what gives?)
Same deal if I put the front foggies on
If I put the 9W7 blue tooth kit(I think) will the details come up on the MFD?

Also open to suggestions but not along the lines of "just buy a 90 or 118"

Yes, you will need to code the car using VCDS when the tail lights are fitted, otherwise the car will permanently display the bulb-out warning light (the LEDs draw less current than regular bulbs). See this thread.

The 77TSI doesn't have the MFD Plus, which is required to display audio info, and Bluetooth may be wrapped up with that - in which case, you may need to buy a 90TSI. At any rate, see this thread, and others in the VW Car Audio and Electronics forum for the info you need on the 9W7.

Ok so the MFD is ok but what about on the RCD510, would the contacts come upon there?

To answer that last question yes the contacts show up on the RCD and RNS -510.

I might be wrong but when I bought mine, the "basic" 90TSI still did not have the MFD either. To get the MFD I needed the comfort pack which has a lot more goodies in it. It might be different now as mine is a 2010 build but something to check anyway.....would hate to buy a 90TSI and miss out on the options that you need

The fancy MFD looks like it is a matrix type screen, sort of like a phone screen or comp monitor. In that it looks like it could generate whatever pictures you programmed it to show.

The normal MFD like the one found in my sis' new Polo, is also white and black, but only really turn symbols/numbers on and off, if that makes sense. It a bit more basic.

According to the Golf brochure, the MFD+ has the extra pages for audio and convenience, but they both share the trip computer functions. There may be display differences, but I can't personally comment on that.

It's what REXman said....

Here is the MFD+ fitted to a Golf. Notice that and the curves and the W in SW have little "jaggies". Notice the numbers in the tme and temp have curves etc too. It's because the display is an LCD panel which has a set resolution and can display anything - like your TV, but black and white.


Here is the MFD fitted to a Polo (easier to find this than the Golf version). Notice that the numbers are the "old sliding element digital" display with no curves. The only curve on the display is the fuel gauge which is a "fixed" element and is always present. Whilst you can cycle through different trip meter functions, the display is very "fixed function" and is more like a 1970's digital alarm clock than a TV...
