I note that it doesnt appear to be too common out there ... or is it just b/c is it that invisible?

I'd like to do something like that, but I can't afford it... unless of course, I win the big one in Tattslotto tonight!

It's worth every cent of it if you like you car to remain without stone chips. Even protects against mishaps when parking. See Ceramic Polymer Nanotechnology paint protection - Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Australia for more details and photos. I spent $811 on mine by buying the full kit for the GTI from ducoscratch and having some custom areas done like the protection strips on the side (mk V), the door cups, a pillars, VW badge on the front, my German badge on the front and a few other spots.

This stuff is not just worth it, it is a MUST!

Anyone who buys the dealer paint protection stuff should feel silly for having wasted their money which such an awesome product which ACTUALLY works like 3M Paint Protection Film and Ventureshield Stoneguard is available.

When I get my Golf R, I'm considering getting the entire car wrapped in this stuff.

The venture shield PPF is great stuff, I had it on my last car. I got the full bonet as well applied by The Racing Room. Bit more expensive but the guy is a perfectionist and the kits fit really well. Still don't know if i'd get it again as it depends where you drive, I don't do many long trips or highway driving or on dirt roads.

Also mine came with free paint protection, not really much help against stone chips but easier to get droppings off the paint etc. Just don't want to cover it up, but the film does stain very quickly if you get bird/bat droppings and the finish isn't as nice as the other normal painted panels.

The venture shield PPF has been improved a lot in the last few years. The finish now is meant to replicate the 'factory clear coat finish'.
As for the staining from bird poop - better the removable film than your clear coat I say But you can still polish and seal the PPF too, to help prevent staining and aging etc.

Yeah i'd get it again as i love the idea of protecting your stuff and you could peel it off after a few years and have a new finish underneath. I have skins on my iphone/ipod as well to keep them looking like new.

Just trying to be a bit more tight with money this time around haha.

btw I'd recommend using masking tape on all the edges as clay bar and polish can get caught on the edges, and i dont like being able to see the lines where it finishes.
