• Volkswagen driver Jan Habig posts best times during Sasol Rally (South African Rally Championship)

The excellent performance of South African Jan Habig in the Volkswagen Polo Vivo S2000 during the Sasol Rally went unrewarded.

In the second round of the South African Rally Championship Habig posted three fastest stage times with co-driver Robert Paisley, but retired from second position after an accident on the twelfth of 17 special stages. South African Hergen Fekken and co-driver Pierre Arries finished the Sasol Rally as best Volkswagen duo in seventh position. Giniel de Villiers, who won the 2009 Dakar Rally and finished second in 2011 in a Volkswagen Race Touareg, and co-driver Ralph Pitchford lost 14 minutes due to two tyre failures and had to settle for 16th place.
