It seems that not everyone is aware of the "new posts" button at the top of the page so they miss a lot of the general banter that takes place around here.

Whilst speaking to people during the lead up to the recent melb cruise a lot of them werent even aware of it until they were directed to the thread.

Im thinking that given social activities and cruises are an important part of this place that maybe it would be an idea to put this thread somewhere towards the top of the page where it is more prominant?

I just feel it kinda gets lost down there unless people are looking for it specifically.

Anyways

thats just my 2c for the day :P

I agree with Tim here. I've spoken with a few dubbers offline before that are on here and they keep telling me they've never heard of the so and so, mainly because they hardly go to that part of the forum.

There is always the calendar too, I have been putting Sydney events in there when I find out about them, then link to a post about them.

I'm all for moving the meet and event to the top of the forums main page, but I'd also recommend a sticky pointing out the Calendar function thats there. Remember peeps, if nothing else the Calendar will remind you of upcoming events up to three days prior :D

The Hawk is right, we have the calender to inform people of upcoming events.

Also, used SPARINGLY (i.e. for official cruises, Nationals) stickies will solve this issue. However we do not want a Clubs & Meets section full of stickies, as they have a habit of killing threads...

When I was organising the SEQ cruise, I made a point of PM'ing as many locals as possible to let them know it was going on, and bumping the thread when It went too low on the list (however if it is a popular cruise it shouldn't need too much bumping)

We have the Clubs, Meets and Events section for a good reason. If people don't look there to see what's going on they probably aren't interested ;)

Seriously, there's a line in the sand where we go from looking out for one another to babysitting...

if you have a look at the front page.
We dont have a clubs, meets and events "section". We have a thread in a section called "specialist" inbetween completely unrelated technical stuff.

It doesnt require stickyness and it doesnt require flashing lights. I just think it deserves to maybe even be in the general section or something. Im by no means demanding it gets changed. Just trying to be helpful :D

hi.
tonights meet (3rd monday of every month) is discussed in the following thread.

http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showthread.php?t=18969&page=8

Its just at our usual haunt. where we will sit about and talk rubbish for a couple of hours whilst enjoying a small meal.

7.30pm onwards

Rising Sun Hotel
2 Raglan Street, South Melbourne, VIC 3205

Although redigging this thread is interesting. I still think club meets should be higher on the list :P
