Anyone with the above tyres who think they are noisy.
Disappointed with the road noise on ashfelt and tar based surface, Cement ok.
They are ok around town but very noisy on the freeway @100-110km/h
Have checked and they are on the correct way.

How do I overcome this??
Air pressure?
Change the tyres?
Have the wheel arches sprayed with some sound deadening spray?

Turn the CD player up. Not much you can do about it.

I don't think the volume would go loud enough.

Only the standard 16's on the TDI
I found the faster I went the louder they got.
cement section of the freeway was ok,it was just the ashfelt surface.

Unusual, given I've found mine quieter than the Goodyears I had on my Mazda6.

Hmmm the bridgestone RE88's on my MkIII are louder than the conti's on my GTI.

But in the wet the conti's are louder.... go figure.

What about sparying on some sound deadening in a can, in your weels archer!

Have just excepted the noise as I love the car so much.
I think it seems to be more a drumming sound coming through the car
than the actual noise from the tread.
Thought about some kind of deadening under the arches at first but when
you look it it has a kind of felt material as the inner arch, and as mentioned
above the noise seems to be drumming and I dont think deadening would
work.

Have you checked wheel alignment - if the tyres are scrubbing it willdefinately make the nosie worse.

But as others have said - it sux, but they all do it. Seems to be a particular weak point of the MkVs.

a Mate runs those contis in 195 /45 x15s on his mk1...great tyres...
has no problem with noise in that, and the interior is all stripped out.
