Hi all,

My carby has a hole in it. It's in the back of the carby- looks like there should be a welsh-plug type thing in it. It's about 10mm dia.

Was there meant to be something in it? and if so, what- and if it's meant to be a plug, does anyone have a spare? or should i just bog it up with that plastic metal stuff?

Glue a 1c piece in it and peen the edges to hold it in place.

lol i had a car come to me with the exact problem. i was amazed ive had beetles for ages and ive never seen this happen before in their solex's. i just changed the carby over with a spare one. what ever u do make sure the bit cant fall into the motor  . i notice the problem when i put my hand over the carby and it didnt suck my hand or die down. the motor would run for a bit then lean out lol. what a wierd thing to fall out it should be stuck in good. something to look out for i guess
cheers brenton

I actually couldn't find a 1c piece so i had to cut down a 5c piece..... expensive part!

She goes like a charm now. A joy to drive.

I saw a carby today with a big dollop of instant gasket in it.
Does the same job as your 5c, but not as neat.
