There are quite a few people rebuilding old Golfs (MK1 and MK2) in Canberra or Queanbeyan and it would be good to get together some time to compare notes.
I'd like to meet at someone's house/garage after work one night so we can all talk about what problems we're having or give tips to others.
Anyone interested?
Cheers
Paul

My MK2 is my daily so I can take it anywhere we meet. I can show you how well a Golf can take roundabouts if you want.
I can volenteer my shed, I'll just run it past the boss first but should be sweet. I'm in kambah, if that's suitable..
I do have a mk1 parts car siting here that I need to start stripping.

OK, we know who'll take out the farthest traveled award - for the year!
Would be a nice run in the MK2 but that's still a long way to go for a meet-n-greet. What days suit you?

I'll be up for a meet and yak.
Just can't do this coming Sunday and 10th of April (ages away but putting it in) other then that I think I'm all good.
I'm in the gathering stage, construction stage keeps being put back due to the wait on parts.

OK, we've got enough people interested, now lets hassle Goon to get permission to use his place and set a time/date that suits us all.
I'll send him a PM.
Cheers

Just spoke to the commander, and she gave me the all clear! The shed is ours for the afternoon.
I am thinking a week day would be best for me, sometime after work say 5-6pm. How does this Thursday sound?

Hi guys,
Apologies for not being there tonight. As much as I wanted to go worked screwed me over. So I'll have to wait for the next round of meet and greet. Until then... I will keep the thread going and hopefully you will like what you see...

You three were the only ones who didn't turn up, the rest of us had a good time. We checked out Pilks's carby and he should be able to get his car running now. Nick hinted at the updates he's got planned for his MK2 - can't wait to see it progress. Goon showed us his spares MK1 and the A4 he's getting his 2.0T motor from. He also had everything setup to nickle plate the bolts he's using to put the MK1 back together with. I scored a pretty good headlight to replace the one I shattered the other day.
We all told great stories on what we've got planned and if half of them are true then there's going to be some sweet Golfs running around Canberra.
I ended up leaving before 8 which worked out well for me - got home not too late.
I'll organise another meet soon.
Cheers
Paul
Thanks for organising it Paul. Nice distraction and a good opportunity to have a laugh and meet you guys. Would love to host another meet anytime in the future. I'll organise some food and a couple of beers (soft drink for pilks:) for the next one! And hopefully even have my project back up in Canberra to show off!
Cheers

Canberra is only a days drive. It'll just be a looooonnnnnng day.
C'mon, if I can drive from Townsville to Brisbane in a day in my MK1 (25 years ago) then you can drive down here. You need to do the drive anyway to pickup my RAs.
