Wollongong Sporting Car Club is holding an informal track day at the Marulan Driver Training Centre on March 16. It will be JUST a fund day out, there will be no classes or timing or trophies. It is NOT racing.
You don't need to be a club member to join in. The event is open to everyone. You will need a track licence however. This can be a CAMS, or AASA licence. Alternatively you can buy a 12 month Marulan licence on the day for $40.
The day will start out with a drivers briefing and track walk accompanied by a mdtc instructor at about 8:45. From 9am cars will then be put in evenly matched groups of 6 or so and sent out for 10 minute sessions up until 4am. Cost of the day is $110 per driver. Only 40 entries will be taken meaning you will get the maximum possible track time for your dollar. On previous track days we have had over an hour of track time each!
On the day you will need to wear non-flammable long pants and long sleeve shirt and closed in shoes. Jeans and cotton shirt/blouse is suitable. You will also need an Australian standards approved helmet. These are available for hire at the track for $20 ($50 deposit).
Passengers are allowed but they must be 17 or over and will also need a competition licence (CAMS, AASA, or Marulan). There is no fee to be a passenger.
Cars need to be based on production models or clubmans capable of being registered. Open wheelers and go karts not allowed. Strict noise limits apply. As part of scrutineering every car will be tested.
Track will be open from 8am to 5pm with driving 9am to 4pm. Drivers will be under the instruction of mdtc staff. The club acts as hirer of track only.
