View Full Version : RVC not working after RNS510 firmware and maps upgrade (Mk6 Golf)

Hi All,

I recently upgraded both the maps and firmware versions in my RNS510 and since then, while the upgrade was successful and everything works, the RVC no longer shows up on the screen when reversing, even though I can still hear the pop-up camera popping out. So mechanically it's all working and the camera pops up, but since the software upgrade, the RNS510 isn't picking up the signal etc or isn't aware of the camera. I hope that makes sense...

Does anyone have a VAGCOM unit/cable and would be prepared to give me a quick hand to debug or get it sorted, will happily supply a carton of beer of your choice for your efforts. I'm in North Canberra.

Cheers

Aaron.

Something has gone wrong as I have upgraded several times and swapped maps and all still works.

Havent heard of anyone having that problem

Some of the firmware upgrades reset the coding. Someone needs to go in it with VCDS and tell the RNS510 the RVC is present again.

^this
'Factory' firmware updates erase the coding, radio presets, settings etc and set it all back to default.
Modified firmware CDs do not erase these portions of NVRAM on the RNS, making them more user friendly as they dont require VCDS to recode afterwards.

iirc only the upgrade to 5xxx erased the coding

Any upgrade that is from an unmodified factory upgrade CD will erase all coding.
There were previous releases which did this also.
