Well after having the Passat for 7 yrs and wife has had her A class for 12 years decided time for new wheels.. Looked at new Merc A and Audi A3 but they all got canned for various reasons and I wanted something with conventional auto. Her mum has always had Volvos and swears by them so ended up at Volvo dealer.. They were doing good deals on the V40 T5 R design with no GST so we did the deal, Love the five cylinder engine. here is a crappy phone pic just need the bloody Volvo driver sticker.http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2014/02/u3uta2e2-2.jpg

Looks a bit like a Ford Focus from that angle, still safe and reasonable attractive have fun.

I rate the V40 and a change is always important when upgrading car in my opinion. I get it, those 5 cylinders pick up a LOT of torx tuned.

Volvo have some big things happening, I've always liked the brand (treats like P1800, Amazon, 850R, 480GT) I hope they're performance stuff gets picked up, the things id do for a manual Polestar wagon. Nice car and good choice I think.

Without being a smart alec it is surprising how much the Volvo looks like the AH Astra from the side profile .

Actually gazzmo was closer - it's based on the current Focus platform, but will be the last Ford based Volvo since they were sold to Geely...

At least so far the Chinese don't seem to be pulling Volvo downmarket. If anything they are improving.
