Splitting multi-piece BBS wheels

Are the bolts and nuts 12pt items? I know that the bolts are 8mm whereas the nuts are 10mm, but I'm just wondering what tools I need for it. Cheers.

Thanks a lot. What about the sealant used? I've asked around in other forums and they seem to recommend Sikaflex. I can find their sealants at Bunnings and there's like a range of them too - any suggestions?

Sikaflex is pretty expensive compared to others, but seems to be pretty good. I originally bought it to stick the locks back on quarter windows in a Mk1. Never use it for that. Doesn't work. Also don't get any on your clothes :P It's basically a very high end rubber cement.

In my case, I got a tube to put in my corking gun. Tried it on the windows, failed. Put it away. 12 months later, I had to cut the tube in half to get anything out, I just couldn't unstick the nossel... Eitherway, it's now helping hold on my side trim and being that it has a fair give to it when set, it should do the job nicely.

Next time round I think I will try for a small tube instead of the corking gun size jobbie, something with a lid I can put on and hopefully resuse later :D

Yeah I heard they're the good stuff if you want it done well. There's just a whole range that I don't know what would be appropriate to use on wheels!

This is what we use on aircraft so it doesn't eat the aluminium skin, when sealing antennas on.

Comes in a tube that would have plenty in to do a set of wheels.

RS components would have it if you can't get it anywhere else.

Sounds good, cheers for that Gavin! No need to guess that they should be able to withstand the temperatures the wheels can get to, since you guys use it on aircraft!

rtv sealant basically saw some loctite heat proof rtv a few days ago thats what im gonna run

Is that the one? A lot of stuff in there I agree! I've also been checking out www.wheel-whores.com/ and most of the UK guys there use Sikaflex.
