OK im in the market for wheels got my Mk4 GTI. But im in 2 minds to get:

1. Original Mk4 R32 Rims

or

2. Konig Unknown in silver and black in 18s or maybe 19s

http://www.ozzytyres.com.au/page.php?load=wheels_more&WheelType=Tuner&mag_images_id=163&mag_id=101

With regard to the konigs i had put up against my car and it looked pretty sweet and these were blooody light as! They dont look to bling and have a bit of dish...

Opinions!!!

I wouldnt go for either.

Something from OZ would be nice, or BBS.

I've never liked the unknowns, but if you can source the Aristos, they'd look great on your GTI.

I think from memory the MK4 R32 rims are OZ.

I reckon it would look pretty cool on 18" RS4 rim's being silver. Although I reckon they'd look good with any color.

That's what I thought too. Though I think the OZ Turismos are slightly different to the OEM Aristos...

That's quite normal to be paying anywhere beyond $3000 for a new set of BBS wheels. Awesome wheels though.

Check out these CH's

One of my favourite rims. And with V2s you'll have the car sitting very nicely on them.

These are my BBS CH 18s. They will look better when the car is lowered. They cost $2,900 from Melbourne Mag wheel centre for the 18s. I originally had 17s which cost $2,700
I am glad I didnt go 19s. The pot holes are deep enough to destroy low profile tyres down here!

That looks sex Andrew....where about in melbourne did u get em? Did they come with Tyres?? The quote i got was for almost $3500 without tyres. Im still tossing up whether its worth spending that much and more on a set of wheels....:?

Mag Wheel Centre is on the net. They were in Richmond, and that was without tyres.

I thought so...thats why i thought the Konig Unknowns, coz they are super light...

Man buying wheels is such a pain!!!!

gpk_gti
09-10-2007, 05:46 PM
but you are altering the diameter hence you are loosing take off power but gaining top end.I notice a diff between my stockies and my 18's.
also make sure the wheels you buy have the correct load rating as most people forget the importance of that.

superlight you get the benefit of rolling resistance but if the diameter is so much greater then the benefit will not be as great.

honestly the ride isnt so bad and tyres are 35's. maybe because the roads out my way rnt so bad so i dont notice it. but yet take off definately feels a bit slugish.

SoVeReIgN

Ive got 18s with 225/40s on them.
They are a little heavier but they are indentical diameter to standard (or very close) because of the lower profile.
Its only a touch slower by my pants dyno but the wider tyre and stiffer profile make it handle much better!

Just wondering, say hypothetically i have bbs wheels on my car...should i be worried that they will get nicked?

Im being serious...are they that sought after?

rayray086
20-10-2007, 08:08 AM
Not to the degree that they'd get instantly nicked if someone sees a set on your car! Use a good set of lock nuts if you're feeling paranoid.

Yes they are. Especially with the $1000k per corner price tag they carry.

At $1000k per corner, you'll want to hire a couple of guards to perminently watch over your rims. ;)

but in all seriousness.. i'd be a little worried - Thankfully only a real ethusiast would know their true value so druggo kid off the street will only see them as some shiny wheels.

Just get 5 different sets of locknuts and you'll be sweet. Pain in the ass to get them off should you have to change a tyre but they won't be stolen in a hurry. :D j:

They are sought after & a good set of locking wheel bolt's/nut's is excellent insurance.

I use BMW locking wheel bolt's. They have over 40 different style splines so it can make it very difficult if you loose the splined key.

Usually the first thing to get knicked is the BBS Valve cap's. My brother's were knocked off I think from memory in the first week. Then replaced & knocked off again.
