In another world premiere for the Australian International Motor Show, Volkswagen has announced it will unveil its new Touareg R50 in Sydney next week (11 October). Developed by a team of specialists at Volkswagen Individual GmbH, the Touareg R50 is one of the most powerful SUVs in the world. While Volkswagen has yet to announce detailed specifications, it promises the R50 boasts "generous" increases on the 230kW of power and 750Nm of torque produced by the current V10 TDI model on which it is based. Bigger wheels and tyres and tweaked suspension complete the high-performance package. Volkswagen Individual GmbH has also designed new exterior and interior features to reflect the R philosophy.

The R50 is the third model to appear under Volkswagen's sporty R label, following in the footsteps of the Golf R32 and the new Passat R36 - which was launched last month at the Frankfurt motor show. All three models have 4MOTION all-wheel drive to guarantee optimal traction.

Wolfsburg/Sydney, 08 October 2007 - in a world premiere Volkswagen shows the Touareg R50 to the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney on 11 October. With an output of 258 KW/350 HP (with 3.500 rpm) the new Touareg version belongs to the strongest jeeps of the world. In Germany the Touareg R50 will be orderable at prices starting from 88.260 euro; the introduction on the market takes place in November.

The engine characteristic of the Touareg R50 is coined/shaped by an almost competitionless torque level: Already when 2.000 revolutions the V10 TDI of the Touareg R50 its enormous Kraft of 850 Newtonmeters develops. The turbo-Diesel of the well-known ten-cylinder with 230 KW/313 HP was derived. The achievement could be increased by an adjustment of the turbo-loading and a modified engine management by 28 KW/37 HP and the maximum torque by considerable 100 Newtonmeters. Under these signs the jeep accelerates in only 6.7 seconds on 100 km/h (series: 7.4 seconds); the maximum speed amounts to 235 km/h. In relation to engine performance and vehicle size the consumption, in series with a particle filter equipped, ten-cylinder diesel engine with moderate 9.6 Liter/100 km (except place) and/or 12.6 of the Liter/100 km lies (entire). Despite the large achievement and torque plus the DIN values consumed remained constant in the comparison to the Touareg V10 TDI.
The Leistungspotenzial of the R50 accordingly, conceived Volkswagen individual in accordance with R-philosophy a new ex and Interieur equipment. The new Touareg R50 is easy from the outside to its 21-Zoll-Leichtmetallrädern of the type Omanyt with 295er tire, blue painted brake calipers, December ducks wheel housing widenings, sidesmolder-learns, independent bumpers (sport Design package) to recognize and a modified radiator grille (chrome in a matte finish).

Exclusively for the Touareg R50 there is the external color „Biscay Blue “. Blue tones of this kind are typical since the conception first gulf of the R32 in the year 2002 for the high performance R-models. Alternatively for the Touareg R50 the four lacquer finishes are offered „Campanellaweiss “, „to reflex silver “, „Black Magic “and „Atacamgrau “.

To the extensive equipment belongs besides a pneumatic spring sport chassis: The so-called „driving dynamics package with adaptive Wankausgleich “and twenty millimeters lowered chassis supplement thereby the mode manually „sport “that or automatically adjustable pneumatic cushioning around a harder spring rate.

Inside the jeep offers among other things a sport seat plant in anthrazitfarbenem Nappaleder with integrated R50-Logo in the head restraints. The Logo was likewise trained into the high-grade steel entrance borders. With the sporty character of the Touareg correspond besides the interior application in the Dessin „engines spin brightly “- a metal structure, like it in former times for engine haven vehicles to the employment came - as well as in metal pedal caps for gas and brake, worked. A R-Logo ziert besides the selector lever for the six-course automatic transmission (Tiptronic). The Touareg R50 is equipped beyond that in series with a winter package (inclusive seat heating for the rear seats), the so-called MEMORY package Premium (among other things seats, steering column and belt height electrically adjustable), a wetting running wall behind the rear seats as well as a ski bag.

Mit einer Leistung von 258 kW / 350 PS (bei 3.500 U/min) gehört die neue Touareg-Version zu den stärksten Geländewagen der Welt. In Deutschland wird der Touareg R50 zu Preisen ab 88.260 Euro bestellbar sein; die Markteinführung erfolgt im November.



Die Motorcharakteristik des Touareg R50 wird durch ein nahezu konkur*renzloses Drehmomentniveau geprägt: Schon bei 2.000 Umdrehungen entwickelt der V10 TDI des Touareg R50 seine enorme Kraft von 850 Newtonmetern. Abgeleitet wurde der Turbodiesel vom bekannten Zehnzylinder mit 230 kW / 313 PS. Durch eine Anpassung der Turboaufladung und ein modifiziertes Motormanagement konnte die Leistung um 28 kW / 37 PS und das maximale Drehmoment um beacht*liche 100 Newtonmeter gesteigert werden. Unter diesen Vorzeichen beschleunigt der Geländewagen in nur 6,7 Sekunden auf 100 km/h (Serie: 7,4 Sekunden); die Höchstgeschwindigkeit beträgt 235 km/h. In Relation zur Motorleistung und Fahrzeuggröße liegt der Verbrauch des, serienmäßig mit einem Partikelfilter ausgerüsteten, Zehnzylinder-Dieselmotors bei moderaten 9,6 Liter/100 km (außerorts) beziehungsweise 12,6 Liter/100 km (gesamt). Trotz des großen Leistungs- und Drehmomentplus sind die DIN-Verbrauchswerte im Vergleich zum Touareg V10 TDI konstant geblieben.


Dem Leistungspotenzial des R50 entsprechend, konzipierte Volkswagen Individual gemäß der R-Philosophie eine neue Ex- und Interieur-Ausstattung. Von außen ist der neue Touareg R50 leicht an seinen 21-Zoll-Leichtmetallrädern des Typs Omanyt mit 295er Reifen, blau lackierten Bremssätteln, dezenten Radhausverbreiterungen, Seitenschwellern, eigenständigen Stoßfängern (Sport-Design-Paket) und einem modifizierten Kühlergrill (Chrom in einem Matt-Finish) zu erkennen.



Exklusiv für den Touareg R50 gibt es die Außenfarbe „Biscay-Blue“. Blautöne dieser Art sind seit der Vorstellung des ersten Golf R32 im Jahre 2002 typisch für die leistungsstarken R-Modelle. Alternativ werden für den Touareg R50 die vier Lackierungen „Campanellaweiß“, „Reflexsilber“, „Black Magic“ und „Atacamgrau“ angeboten.



Zur umfangreichen Ausstattung gehört zudem ein Luftfeder-Sportfahr*werk: Das sogenannte „Fahrdynamikpaket mit adaptivem Wankausgleich“ und zwanzig Millimeter abgesenktem Fahrwerk ergänzt dabei den Modus „Sport“ der manuell oder automatisch regulierbaren Luftfederung um eine härtere Federrate.

Innen bietet der Geländewagen unter anderem eine Sportsitzanlage in anthrazitfarbenem Nappaleder mit integriertem R50-Logo in den Kopf*stützen. Das Logo wurde ebenfalls in die Edelstahl-Einstiegsleisten eingearbeitet. Mit dem sportlichen Charakter des Touareg korrespon*dieren zudem die Innenraum-Applikation im Dessin „Engine Spin hell“ – eine Metallstruktur, wie sie früher für Motorsportfahrzeuge zum Einsatz kam – sowie in Metall gearbeitete Pedalkappen für Gas und Bremse. Ein R-Logo ziert zudem den Wählhebel für das Sechsgang-Automatik*getriebe (Tiptronic). Serienmäßig wird der Touareg R50 darüber hinaus mit einem Winterpaket (inklusive Sitzheizung für die hinteren Sitze), dem sogenannten Memory-Paket-Premium (u.a. Sitze, Lenksäule und Gurthöhe elektrisch einstellbar), einer Netztrennwand hinter den Rück*sitzen sowie einem Skisack ausgerüstet.
