Hello!

I've just retrofitted a VW Bluetooth KIT Module 7P6035730L on a my2010 Tiguan that came from the factory without any prior bluetooth kit installed and with RCD 510 and full highline white MFD display in instrument cluster.

After the installation I've paired the phone and I can see and operate it from the RCD 510 display, but I can't see it in the MFD, is it normal? Do I need some VCDS coding to enable the MFD phone menu?

Cheers.

Yes, you need to go to the install list and tick 77-telephone so the systems knows its there. There are plenty of install threads on here.
Search is your friend. :google:

Just use VCDS to activate 77 in gateway list and after ignition cycle will show in MFD...can i ask....how did you pair your phone to the head unit without using the MFD?? Looking at doing the install on mine but have red MFD which will have no comms with BT unless purchase interface box...not fussed about MFD anyway as long as it will operate on touchscreen of head unit...how did you do the initial set up to phone mate? ..VDUB...

First of all, thanks to both for the response.

Now, for anyone that may have the same problem as I had, I forgot to mention on the first post that with a VCDS scan I already had the 77 Telephone module listed on the "Select control module" so I didn't check if it was added to the install list in the 19 CAN Gateway module, I thought that it already was... But since the missed visualization on the MFD I checked and it wasn't selected, so I added it manually on the install list and bam, it was correctly displayed on the MFD, so it's not enough to see the module on the first page, check if it's correctly ticked on the install list in the 19 CAN Gateway module and everything should work correctly.

@VDUB

Is pretty simple to pair the phone without MFD visualization, all you need to do is:

1. Enable Bluetooth on your phone
2. Do an ignition cycle
3. Connect to a device named VW Phone that will show up on the available device on your phone

That's all, now you'll be able to control your phone via RCD/RNS 510.

I'll ask 2 questions, but maybe I'll need to open a new topic:

I've done a VCDS scan and on the telephone module I have 4 errors (now I can't post the txt scan, but I'll) is it normal?

Is it possible to use Siri with the phone button on the MFSW? I've tried to enable PTT with no luck, maybe because it conflicts with Siri on the iPhone...

Cheers.

Thanks mate...i did try that on a car that had factory fitted RNS and BT... found VWphone ok and pressed accept on phone but it just didnt connect....waited ages but the dash just kept on the "connect password ok" screen....waited still but no connect ...unless i acepted on dash display.....

You 77 module should have no errors if connected up ok...

Wouldn't worry about those faults and just clear them. May or not come back. So long as everything works, who cares.

Don't think you can speak to Siri. So unfortunately you will need to ask your better half instead.

That's weird, if you can you should try to remove 77 module from the car you make the test and see if then you can pair your phone without explicit ok on the car side.

Another possibility is the phone, I've used an iPhone, I don't know how other phones would work.

What about PTT? I've tried to enable it in module 16 Steering Wheel, but it doesn't work... The strange thing is that I saw this how to on another AUS forum, but I don't have the possibility to use long coding on module 16 on the Tiguan, maybe only on the Golf mk6? http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread.php?7275-Activating-Voice-Command-on-RCD-510-with-9w7

My PTT definitely works.

But you need to clarify what you mean by doesn't work?

When you press it, do you get any audio chime and voice speaking?

If you don't, then probably VCDS coding or setting on the RNS510 is wrong.

If you do get a voice prompt, but she doesn't seem to hear you, then most likely your microphone wiring is not correct.

I've tried to hold down the phone button on the MFSW and no chime sound, do I have to hold the star button instead of the phone button? I've the 8 button MFSW and RCD 510, not RNS, maybe this is the culprit...

Not a star button! It should be a microphone button on bottom left hand side of SW:

Unfortunately I have the old 8 button MFSW, like the one posted below, and it doesn't have a mic button, only phone and star: do you know if it's possible to activate PTT even with this SW?

...just retrofitted a VW Bluetooth KIT Module 7P6035730L.

Hi, do you happen to know what the difference between your dash L variant of the kit and the earlier 7P6035730K variants that are being sold on ebay. I am considering a 9w7 retrofit in my Golf and wanting to know which variant to get and from where. Will have a crack at fitting it myself if it is not too difficult.

Hi, AFAIK they are the same, but the L one have a slightly recent manufacture date.

However, usually the differences are minimal, in terms of software update or a slightly different components here and there inside the BT unit.

What I did during my choice was to find a version that had the manufacture date more similar as possible to the version of the head unit (in my case a RCD 510), take a look at this topic where expert forum member tigger73 advice the thing with more details:

The installation is easy, do a search on this forum, there are plenty of useful topic.

I've bought mine from carsystem for 199€ plus shipping.

Cheers.

The older versions used to have a few issues with the phone not auto connecting...but not many..other than that they appear the same to the user in the car...VDUB..

OK thanks for the explanation. Not much difference it seems between K & L then so will probably go for the best price.
Will go hunting for some install threads.

Hey I don't claim to be a guru on BT units :) I just did a fair bit of research from available information when I was looking to retrofit a BT unit into my 2011 Tiguan and the features I really wanted was the phonebook in MFD/RCD510.

In the end I gave up trying to find if the unit was going to be compatible and just confirmed with the seller that it had the features I was after. IMHO there is not enough information available on the various BT units to know difinitively all the compatibility/features/issues of each of the models.

Usually the newer BT units will have improved compatibility with newer phones. I have heard of some of the older BT units having issues with connecting to newer phones - though haven't experienced it myself.

I've also heard newer BT units can have compatibility issues with older head units (again this is not my personal experience just what I have heard). So I upgraded both head unit and BT at around the same time to pretty much current model units with no issues - plus got the features I was after.

I do make calls while in the car so being able to search contacts through the head unit/steering wheel is very useful (don't use audio streaming so not that interested plus I have MDI which I mainly just use for charging my iphone (I know it's a major waste but it came with the car).
