I was in Barloworld today to look at purchasing a new Highline TSI and enquired about extended warranty. The sales guy told me I many not need to worry about the warranty as VWA is most likely introducing a new 5 year warranty across the whole vehicle instead of the 3 year due to the dip in sales lately. Anyone else hear this?

WOW thats pretty cool. I havent heard about it but it wouldnt surprise me.
Probably another way for people to feel safe after the bad publicity with the DSG issues etc.
Given you have 2 posts, you could possibly work for VW Aus....... do you? ;)

Nah mate. I wish I worked for VWA, then I might not have to pay so much for my highline!!!! I'm just going to wait a bit to see if it gets announced before I sign on the dotted line. I got quoted 3k for the Allianz extended warranty which I thought was a bit rich.
Havent owned a golf since MK5, so really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of one!!

Transmission/driveline get 5 year warranty, injectors 5 years, all the problematic issues they are experiencing at the moment are all on a 5 year warranty now... Haven't heard about the whole car getting 5 years from factory as of yet, will not rule it out though!
