I recently signed up for a MY13.5 roc but really, how would I know? Is it identified under the bonnet or anything?

I know the difference between MY13 and MY 12 - mainly the heating knobs etc, but dont know of any difference between MY13 and MY13.5.

Cheers,

Rodders

I posted same question on a UK website and that is essentially the only answer a well. Thanks SH3P.

So I guess on the build plate it would be a car made after 5 November 2012.

Hi All,

Sorry for the noobish question, but I haven't been able to find an answer and it's getting me thinking...

What production dates are considered an MY13.5? I've seen many advertised on Carsales etc. like this.

I'm picking up a Scirocco which has a production date of July 2013, and it is advertised at the dealer as (2013) MY14.

Is MY13.5 just a loose term that people use for 2013 model Scirocco's built from July 2013, or are these actually built before July 2013? Or otherwise?

Anyone that can shed some light it'll be very much appreciated!

Cheers,

Andy

Build date and compliance dates. If it's built in 2013 and complianced in 2014 the car sales guy will try to tell you it's a MY14 model due to compliance times. Come trade in time it's a 2013 build date so the car is a year older suddenly.

It doesn't really matter as most people buying second hand couldn't care less for compliance date, only when it was built.

Changeover is August.

So if it was built before last August, it would be an MY13.

The .5 part, I'm not sure. Perhaps they're covering a grey area in the build date with vagueness?

Cheers,

Randy :P

Hmm, that's interesting... Cos I was reading a forum thread (think it was Vortex) for a Touareg with a similar question. Most replies indicated that if it's built in July 2013 onwards it's a 2013 MY14.

Also, on my contract the Make states it's a VOLKSWAGEN 137RX3/14. The dealer stated that the 14 means MY14. Is this fact or bs?

Anyone else care to weigh in?

Umai Naa!! no longer venture on ns.com?

Cheers,

Andy

Oh, and when I was going for insurance, there were 3 options...

2013 MY13
2013 MY13.5
2013 MY14

Mind blowing

Andy

Your VIN will tell you what model year it is as well.

Whatever letter is after the 4th Z will tell you.

A is 2010, B is 2011, etc.

Yeah, still on NS but with a name change ;)

Oh yeah, it's definitely a MY14. I forgot I actually checked that last week... It's got an E, which is 2014.

What's the MY13.5 mean? Still confused about that part.

Cheers,

Andy

Apart from build dates there were some minor changes from what I could see in the options of the car. Notably 18" rims. MY14 seemed to have added a HD MFD, but I could be waaaaaay off on these.

MY13.5 will have been minor running changes that were introduced sometime after the MY13 builds commenced. This isn't particularly unusual; VW did it with the Mk6 Golf as well. Sometimes the changes are obvious (eg trim/plastics changes, Climatronic updates etc etc) and sometimes they are not.

The second post in this thread suggests the only change was an optional reverse camera in some markets.
