I'm new here and new to Passats - the last thing I owned with a VW badge on it was a 1970 Beetle.

Anyway, I'm thinking of fitting a set of reversing sensors to my Passat - a 2003 V6 that I just bought. There are a huge number of sensor kits available on eBay, though they all look like variations on about three versions.

Has anyone done this? Any feedback, comments, gotcha's etc would be appreciated.

I would be interested to know too...
There are so many choices and the prices are so much cheaper than buying from autObarn etc.
(I might cost alot to install though?)

Just an idea have you tried maybe Tandy or ****smiths i know they central locking kits etc. At least that way you could see them before you buy and if there are any probs you can speak to someone local....?? just an idea they may not have them but just puttin it out there.....

Goodluck guys if i see any around i will let u know!

I've been looking at this one (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250164424170&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:11) - the silver option would be pretty close to my colour - gunmetal and if it's not I could always paint the sensors before fitting them.

This one (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180158170370&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:AU:11) looks interesting too.

I also had a look at the install instructions in this manual (http://www.brashimports.com.au/Reversing%20Sensors%20Install%20guide.pdf) - it doesn't actually look that hard.

They are a very good investment, but try and get front AND rear sensors, and get them fitted properly and colour coded, because the paint may interfere with the sensor action. Saves lots of guesswork with parking, and may add to car value when selling. Got them on both my cars and I don't know how I lived without them.

I fit them for a living, they are a very good investment. Paint can effect them, but you would have to use 2pac to get it bad enough.

Just as a matter of interest what do you charge for the sensors and what would you charge to fit a set?
