Hey guys well i jsut bought a 2004 Mk4 2.0 sport golf and ive got about 1 g to spend on it for the time being, everything on it is stock so yeh. what would your first mods be to make it looks nicer/go harder etc?

At the moment im looking at both but im interested in what performance mods you could put into it to make it run faster, add a bit of power etc. I dont want insurance to go up heaps no way, but i was thinking new exsuast system or ecu? let me know what you think or what you would reccomend to put into it so it can take on a corolla sportivo

Firstly, welcome aboard flynhigh2007 j:

Click here (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showthread.php?t=6996) to find out how to modify your air box. This will set you back all of about $30 in parts and it's the easiest job to do under the sun. Also adds a nice little induction sound too.

Other than that I'd try and save yourself another 400-500 and get it chipped.
There are various companys who make chips such as GIAC, APR, Revo, Oettinger... the list just goes on.

You may find other answers to your questins here on the Mk4 FaQ's (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newforum/upload/showthread.php?t=7540)

Good luck!

The very first mod I did on my Mk4 was the suspension!!!!
The standard suspension is very soft.
Cheers, Andrew :)

Hi,

I have not long had my MKIV either and the suspension is definitely first on the list of mods. I am looking at Koni Specials as I intend keeping the existing springs.....just firm up the "float"

Thanks. Ive read the airbox page and it sounds good what people have done, if its that cheap then i might aswell go for it, what do i need to buy and how do i do it if you could give me some pointers?

Also in regards to the suspension how much would that cost, because if its around the same as an Ecu chip id have to decide which one to upgrade first. Im keen on making the 2.0 golf go a bit better.
cheers

If your looking for performance and dont wanna spent over a grand, id go a K&N pod air filter and a exhaust straight through. That will make it scream
