My starter motor is definatly on its way out, and it just doesnt have the power to kick over a high compression engine easy.

Im looking for something more powerful to kick it over with more ease. an audi 5+5 was an option but housing does not fit.

Have seen the MSD Starter motors and they look crazy. They are specifically designed for high compression motors. MOney is no issue so im willing to pay for one, the problem is the housing. Its 3 bolts for the early Passats.

Does anyone know about the MSD Starter motors?

Whats the housing like, and is it possible to put one on my car?

Early Passats are weard and parts just dont fit in that easy

i've heard a rumour... havent done it but i believe the 2.3L audi 100 starter motors are quite good at kicking those high compression motors over, i think they bolt straight up... maybe look into it

Hey mate,

Already been tried. The Audi 100 is a 2 bolt housing and it wont fit. Passat one is a 3 bolt housing

i donno how much this helps, but you could try using a diesel dasher/passat starter for a high compression engine.

donno how you'll go about tracking 1 down!
