View Full Version : Fabia RS Economy Mode?

After being asked about fuel economy, and after finally working how to zero all the MFD data, I decided to give an economy run a go.

Since owning the car, my 'average' was 7.4l/100km. Well until I took two runs at happy laps it was, anyway.

I zeroed everything, and loaded a full tank of Shell 98 and checked all the tyres, and oil levels.

The MFD predicted 660 km from a tankful (45? litres). But after driving 200km with an average consumption of 6.6l/100km, the MFD predicts 560km to go.

So, I have 'saved' 100km, so far?

No special technique. Just driving normal 'auto' mode, gently going mix of highway/city. Air con is still on, just set at 22-24 degrees instead of arctic frost.

Might try a tank of that United Fuels 100 Octane next (15 per cent ethanol).

Still going on this tank. Nowhere near half and 300kms already. Sometimes the second half seems to go faster than the first half, but it looks as if I should break 680km on the current consumption figures.

I managed Gold Coast to Newcastle on a tank of Shell sitting on cruise all the way. Total fuel bill from GC to Canberra was $90.

Awesome! - will get the cruise control ready for the next trip to Sydney.
