To all owners of this beautiful vehicle..

How do you go about getting your tracking number to see where your car is?
I've called my dealer and cant seem to get in touch with the person who did the deal.
I know that the car should be off the boat by the end of this week, BUT i was made to believe I could have tracked the car since it go ON the ship from Germany...

Should I push for the delivery date? Can anyone in the dealer just look it up and tell me the details?
Or do I just wait until they call me and tell me its ready for collection?

They never did give me an exact date of delivery. But I did get a call last week of Feb saying I would be getting it 3rd or 4th week of March. I just dont want it to be delayed...
I cant wait anymore...

I think if you get the VIN you can track it. Find out the name of the boat and look it up etc, there are guides around. Google will find something, I even think there is a thread somewhere on these forums. Once its off the boat its just a couple of weeks. Customs and pre delivery.

I asked my dealer for the VIN, but they said they can't get it until it lands (april 17th or there abouts)... I'm fairly sure they do have access to that information, I could push for it but in the long run what is it going to achieve? I would be checking every day to make sure the boat hasn't sunk, but won't make it come faster. Might have helped I have a delivery date for mine (29th April), so I can relax and think about other things. I'll be bouncing off the walls come mid april though.

Read this thread:

How to track the car you have ordered? (http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/forums/f112/how-track-car-you-have-ordered-31644.html)

You can only track the car whilst it's on the ship. Once it's taken off, it'll be complied at the yard before being shipped some time later to the dealer for pre-delivery. The usual time from arriving in the country, to being delivered to you, is 3 weeks (give or take a week).

Yea I guess it wouldn't make any difference to me getting the car if I could track it or not.
This feeling of not being able to put my hands on it is like...a bad itch that you can't scratch. The first 5months passed so quickly but these next 2weeks are feeling like an eternity!!!
Plus it doesn't help that on my way to a mates house I passed by the dealer and saw an Indium, candy and black sitting on their lawn as if to mock me!
RAWRRRRRR!!!

I tracked my car from the day it got on the boat to the day it docked, it just made it seem better, though I think it was borderline obsessive :P

A million Star Wars fans just fainted :) .
Saw the original movie eleven times (yes I'm that old)

Is there a pic of your Rocco somewhere?

Edit: Found the Scirocco's picture thread. Love my Furby, but that Scirocco is a sexy beast.

Soft. I checked the ship on radar as it entered Melbourne's docklands, and grabbed webcam photos as it passed by. :P

Love a bit of Star Wars :)

There's a couple of old pics of my rocco, as I haven't done anything external since the wing, I haven't felt the need to take any and I'm not about to crawl under the car to take a pic of my new control arms :P
Once my new wheels arrive this week, I will take some.

The Scirocco picture thread has lots of fine looking examples though

Just a LITTLE bit. Must be the male equivalent of awaiting childbirth, without the stretch marks

Interesting analogy there... ;)

Some members on the forums have stalked their cars as they were driven off the ship, waiting at the docks, and being put through pre-delivery. As obsessive as I can be, I have nowhere near that much free time. :-D

Wow. I've always bought dealer stock or ex demo. Waiting would kill me, or turn me into a dock stalker probably

We have been escorted off loading docks in Melbourne when a friend foolishly overstepped the entire bloody FENCE. :duh:

Yes, we have a lot of free time, but good times were had. :)
