Hi guys,

Another newbie from WA. Found this forum few weeks ago and i'm very impressed.

Bought my car 2 months ago and it was without any mods and in very good condition. So far i've installed KW Var1 coilovers which drop the car by 50mm and improved the handling and looks, Audi A8 18"x8 replica rims with 225/40/18 tyres, dark tints and TV/GPS/DVD double DIN screen.

Just ordered K&N Typhoon CAI which should arrive from America in the next few weeks. Want to install a cat-back exhaust so if you can recomend anyone in Perth let me know.

Check the links bellow for photos.

Cheers

Daniel

Welcome aboard Daniel. I realy like those rims. We have a few members from WA so I'm sure one of them will be able to recomend somewhere to get the exhaust done.

nice ride and welcome. ive also got the v6 bora and IMO they are awsome cars. i havent done any engine mods as yet apart from a k&n element in the air box. keep us up to date how the CAI goes. Also why did you remove the v6 ad 4motion badges off the back? i was thinking of doing the same but then i realised that the 4 cylinder bora has the same badging

I like the badgeless look. The bora badge was off as well but had to put it back on because it was bit scratched underneat.

Planning to put badgeless grill later on and also thinking of filling the gap where the big VW badge is on the boot but will require respaying the whole boot lid.

My previous Bora V6 4mo was de-badged and I really like thet look. Please see attached photos. If anyone on this forum drives my old car please let me know, don't mind catching up. I end up selling it to VW dealer back in December '05.

Very nice car Dan, i just bought my Bora V6 not long ago, i'm thinking of getting KW v1's, just wondering if its much stiffer compare to stock suspension? Also hows bad is the camber after you drop 50mm?

Cheers mate

I'm from Sydney so would be hard to organise a cruise with ya...:(

I'm happy with the ride quility, I think KW's are worth it.

Only thing that don't like is that 50mm is the lowest you can drop the back. Would've been nice if there was another 15mm to play with but then the camber would've been way out. There is a bit of negative camber at the back but I can't tell you yet if tires will require frequent change. Only had the coilovers for 2 months.

Also update on the exhaust, car booked in for cat-back system on 18th Sep, once I get it will post some photos.

hey sikbora, with your coilovers are the springs on the back heavily compressed. Ive got bilstein coilovers and the springs at the back seem really compressed like they are almost touching where as at the front they are quiet expanded. Seems as bit odd to me do im curious what yours are like

Hi mate. Just had a look at the springs on the back and there is only 4 coils and there is pletty of gap between them. Not sure what to do to lower it another 15mm, its at the lowest setting but could look better if can come down a little bit more.

Had the exhaust done yesterday. From the cat back to the resonator running 2.5 inch pipe which changes to 2.25 inch to the X-Force muffler with twin square tips. I'm really happy with the look and also with the sound it makes.

The factory exhaust its really restrictive, the pipe that runs near the diff its squashed and the muffler is huge. Also the new system its much lighter as well.

Will post some photos in the next few days.

You've done well in a few months. If your new ride is the one that was in a yard in Vic Park going for about 22k, you beat me by a few hours. As you can see I ended up with a new Jetta ..... but I'm not complaining. :)

I got mine from Perth 3MW in Osborne Park. My friend has Jetta turbo and its an awesome car.

sikbora

Balkanac,

I got mine done at Carquest in East Perth. They do lots of Jap cars and prestige euro cars. The only distributor for KW coilover in Australia is Inmotive in NSW so thats where Carquest got mine from.

WA Suspension in Osborne Park are good and also Wilkinson Suspension in Bayswater.

Hi guys. Few photos of the new exhaust + the rear coilovers.

the exhaust looks great. When you say that the stock one was restrictive what do you mean exactly? Do you feel any performance difference with the new exhaust? Im considering getting a new cat back exhaust on the bora but dont really want to spend the money only for it to sound nice. Would you mind me asking how much you payed for the exhaust system? is it mild or stainless? PM me if you dont want to post price (if not ill understand). Also thanks for the pics of the springs, mine look totally different (about twice as many coils and a lot closer together) but i guess thats just the different brands.

Since putting on the new one the stereo in the car has been swiched off.
The car pulls little bit harder at high revs. Might notice more difference in few weeks time when I install CAI and hopefully chip after that.

Will keep you posted with the progress.

What chip are you looking at putting in?

sikbora
26-09-2007, 10:19 PM
Superchip, only reason there is a guy in Perth that can do it. But then I'm thinking maybe to save more money and put cams first and then chip.

Does anyone got any good or bad experience with cams and chip on V6 N/A. Should I do it or not. Supercharger would be nice but $10k is bit too much.

Might need to do more reserch before I start spending more money.

Wheels World in Osbourne Park. Saw an R32 getting KW V3 coilovers in it the other day. Also, theres Wilkinson Suspension over in Bayswater-ish.

I'm not a Mk4'er but its GREAT to see another perth dubber. Methinks I saw your car in the city a few weeks ago, hot looking ride!

There is a small bunch of us vw folk who cruise in perth, mostly organised by msn. We've also got a facebook group: WA German Car Drivers Group.

Welkommen :D

Cool. Reason I ask is that I'm going to buy a 4motion as well and maybe if I could get some experiences first before I do things, I'd save a bit of money hehe.

Dragan at Inmotive did this. He had a HPA twin turbo kit, then sold that and did cams etc and stayed NA. I think he's bored of it again. Might wanna talk to him. :?
