apolagies if this has already been covered,
but basically i have a cadence 12" sub with built in amp from my vr6, that i think would make a nice little bass upgrade for the polo.

it has high level inputs so i plan on using those, but what i dont know is due to the vw's CAN- bus system, where do i plug my acc power from?

i remember putting an aftermarket deck in my mk5 golf, and i ended up buying a canbus adaptor to tap power for it.
what id really like to do is splice a cable somewhere and run it to the back for the sub.

Also does running power require taking your wipers out to run through the firewall? or is there a grommet a bit lower/ somewhere else?
pics/ help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't help with some of your issues because I used a 5ch to power all the speakers and the sub (so I used VCDS to set my RNS510 to 6v low) and the GTI has it's battery in the back.

But you can use pin 10 from Multi-pin connector 4, 12-pin, for CD changer control and CD audio input signals to act as a remote signal.

There's a grommet just under the windscreen on the passenger side. It's a bit of a prick to get to, but up high, no drilling... Takes 4G cable no worries... Not sure if it will go 0G just yet though.
