Good to see VW keeping up their trend for nice wheel design.. (at least I hadn't seen that particular design previously).

Did anybody notice that in the comments under the new golf pic Wheels commented to say new budget model in April, which we all know, but also said the Gti her in October... OCTOBER ..... Yah

Believe it when I see it in Dealership showrooms. (although must admit Golf 7 release here is ahead of my estimates).

if like the previous gti, launch might be october this year but realistically unless pre order, most will probably be pre sold and earliest will just be able to walk in to a dealer and get one off floor is probably april next year :)

^Probably the most accurate analysis yet. GTI will launch this year.

Those wheels are very similar to the CC wheels.

Car was already on sale in Singapore since Christmas.
Keeping an eye on the specs as I'm planning for a GTI 2014

Anyone else notice the that the first article posted says that the Golf7 will be here in March and then the second article states “At the end of April we are unveiling our prices, and you will be astonished,” the VW boss says..

Surely we dont have to wait till the end of April to get the new golf, if its already arriving at our holding yards, im guessing the 2nd article is inaccurate.

I am also thinking about a 2014 GTI but I want to see it in the flesh, I was fairly disappointed with the MKV GTI when I first saw it in 2005 but it slowly grew to love..

Very clean, and I'm still liking the wheel choice on whatever spec that is. You won't stand out in it, but I like that and should age well.

These are likely all VWA press cars - registered in the same batch, and using the plate numbering that VWA uses in their marketing. Which also explains why they've been seen thus far only in Sydney.

Yep, probably getting a good run-in by staff for launch day.
I've spotted a few on my drive home, looks crisp and taut on the road.

http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2013/03/umy3ute2-1.jpg I'm guessing there are a whole heap of these here now. Seeing them quite often.

Well, looks like 3 spec levels have been seen.

The one with steel wheels/hubcaps (1.2 TSI?)
The one with 16 inch (white) alloys (90TSI)
The two 17 inch alloys (104TSi)

Looks like the levels seen in UK (S, SE, GT)
Perhaps trendline, comfortline, highline

Sighted this one about two weeks ago in Engadine but finally snapped it again in pretty much the same spot. Was a petrol, likely a 90TSI.

I pulled up next to a brand spanker on South Road, Brighton. White. I must say, externally, I was totally under whelmed. Front on it looks almost identical to the Mk6. Reading the reviews I'm sure it's a much better car, but when you're paying 50k, do you want a car the looks the same?

50k!?? What are you buying? The standard specs are already quite decently spec-ed.

The Golf has always been an understated look. It's never a look at me in the way a Megane RS is.

Fwiw the interior where you would spend most of your time is definitely special.

Looking at the plates of all syd sightings, looks like corporate cars as all the plates are WSD 16* or WSD 17*, so all probably registered at same RTA office on same day/time.

Sorry, was talking GTI. And to be fair, that car could obviously look a lot different. I guess the point was, it looks more like a mid model facelift rather than a completely new car.

I understand the evolution of a Golf is slow, but this is bordering on Porsche 911 territory. I'd still have one of those though!

Won't the GTI be 40k+ORC roughly? Hardly 50K either.

Dealers are selling so many of them it's crazy! Waiting lists are building up very quickly from what I saw a few days ago. I'll have a drive of it again this Saturday and I'll let everyone know how she goes... What do you guys want covered? :)

I'd love to know if the USB port also functions as an iPod adapter (which was the only good thing about a Hyundai I rented a couple of weeks ago). I can't believe the MDI is dropped with the Mk7. FFS: the iPod is the most popular music player in the world! Why wouldn't VAG support it?

I unfortunately think that your worst fears have come true... It's hard to tell exactly how the external media work with the new infotainment systems... I'll investigate them in more detail. Here is the sentence that makes the Golf sound quite guilty:

USB Audio socket (Note: not compatible with smartphone devices, e.g. iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, etc.)

I'll test it all out and post!
