hey guys just wanted to find out if it was just me...

my car has been chipped by revo and boost hits 15-16psi, but then after about 4500 to 5500revs it will drop back down almost clost to 10 11psi?

is it normal or do i have a leak?

cheers frankee

Is yours a Polo GTI, Frankie? A couple of the items we've found help hold the boost on ours are the SEAT air intake (swap out the Polo one) and a Forge TIP. The boost on mine used to fall off about 5,500 rpm as well ... now it holds firm right through to the red line (and even slightly beyond ... about 6,800 rpm).

Anyway ... something to consider.

Cheers,
Dave

Same engine isnt it? Or doesnt the Polo GTI use an AGU?

its normal, it drops down like that on all of them even with the TIP. you will find after 4800rpm the boost drops, you will find it holds more with 3rd and 4th 14+

do your 4th gear on the 1.8t pull betta then 3rd?
on the highway for me, 3rd gear doesnt move much, so i change to 4th and i can redline it easier.

3rd gear is excellent for me but at that speed you wont feel as much as 4th...

It's the characteristics of a turbo charger. They make the most boost once they spool, then it tapers off. It just heats up and doesn't produce as much boost.

That's the basics of it. You'll see that even with bigger turbos (even something like a 35/40), it will FEEL like they are still making heaps of boost, but it will actually drop down a bit.

But, since you are wondering, the K03 really does make almost no boost up there. The K04 is a little better, but it still feels like poo past 5500 - the boost gauge will read 10psi.

Slightly different engine, not an AGU. This one has fly by wire throttle, ESP and other little things (I THINK variable valve timing as well).
