Hi Guys.

Yesterday I was driving my car and everything was fine.

I got home and planned to go out in about 30 minutes after getting home but when I got in my car to leave I went to start the engine and the engine would turnover but not actually start. I called my mechanic Borris from Volkscare but he's closed, so I called Dean from Volkspower and he said to wait an hour and it might start. His advice was correct it did start. But I didn't ask what could be the cause of the problem.

Then today the same thing happened but I had only stopped for about 2 minutes. Left it for an hour and came back to it and it started up as if nothing had happened. At this stage I think it's electrical due to the fact that it happens and then after a period of time something resets and allows it to start. I'm just not sure what but definitely thinking a relay at this stage.

Just wondering if anyone has had or heard of a similar problem and if anyone has any suggestions what it could be?

Thanks,
Bruce

my money is on the coolant temp sensor mate. will cause bad economy and hot start problems

Hi Lito.

Thanks for that input. I think you could be right as I went for a drive tonight and it actually died on me this time and wouldn't start untill the temperature dropped to about 75 degrees. I had an OBD scanner with me but it wasn't and isn't throwing any codes.

I've had a look for the sensor and think I've found it. It should be just a matter of taking out the faulty sensor and plugging in the new one right?

Thanks,
Bruce.

Hi guys.

New sensor arrived today so I put it in and started the car and everything was fine. Even was idling smoother. Took it for a drive and once it got over 95 degrees the car did a jerk, the check engine light came on and once I had turned it off and tried to start it again it wouldn't start so back to the original problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Bruce.

Hi Lito. Yeah it was a green top one.

I just went and started it and it's back to the rough idle but I did manage to scan it as well! It gave me the error of 16705: Engine Speed Sensor ( G28 ) : Implausable Signal

Thanks,
Bruce
