just picked up my rocco about 3 weeks ago. today i found something weird in the front suspension. looks like some rubber thing in the front suspension. any one can help me to check your rocco and let me know if you have it or not? I suspect the rubber should be removed before delivery but for some reason it hasn't been because the left and right looks a bit different.

Either you have managed to run over something and its lodged itself there, or the dealership didnt remove the rubber/plastic blocks which many new cars have placed temporarily in their suspension to raise them up (less likely to scratch front bumper when going on and off transport trucks etc).

Either way, it shouldnt be there - so jack that side of the car up and pull it out.

I'd say that's a transport block that they've forgotten to remove in pre-delivery. Does that side of the car sit a bit higher as a result?

As Lucas says, jack the car up, and remove it.

The dealer forgot to remove all 4 of mine. They're ruybber not plastic. Due to the consistent reports in the media and forums about the harsh ride I just put it down to that - and in fact I didnt consider the ride harsh even in sport mode (still dont, I dont use the other modes)
My workshop found them when they did the exhaust

Back to the dealer. Give them a serve about their predelivery practices

Yeah I know - luckily I never planned to go back to the dealer for any servicing or mechanical work.

Thanks guys. I'm thinking should I just do it myself maybe in half an hour or should I go back to dealer may cost me couple of hours. the car did feel quite hard in normal mode. and I always have to put it in comfort for normal driving.

Hi, I had a similar problem in my previous car (Jetta). Had it back to Barloworld on two occasions complaining about knock in front suspension and on each occasion they claimed it was fixed. It was not until I took it to another dealer (McGrath Sutherland) that they found the transit blocks had not been removed. Problem was fixed instantly. I now have all my servicing done at McGrath and have been very satisfied.

Saves weight! Plus its a good place to store additional amplifiers or a water meth kit. :D

You did get a repair kit didn't you?

Yes I got the repair kit, the lock nut and hook (for removing the black plastic caps over wheel nuts) lays in the back in the polystyrine mold which holds the air compressor and goo kit, you cant miss it... there is also a screw driver and some other tool which i'm not sure what is used for.

thanks, I'll check for the tool. I think I remember seeing the hook but couldn't see any locknut tool/socket. I'll check again.

Thanks to these forums we caught yet another VW dealer about to let us drive out the driveway with the rubber blocks in. I was looking at it thinking that is weird, then I went and checked the white one on the yard for sale still and notice it doesn't have the weird looking suspension control holders in place. Asked the embarrassed salesman and workshop manager if they woudlmind removing them before we left today.
Thanks for the heads up other Rocco owners!

It's a pretty common occurance.

The spring spacers are generally only fitted to Polo and Golf GTIs, all R-lines except Touareg, and Scirocco, but from time to time you'll see them on other models as well. I'm told it depends on the boat they come over on, and the dock it's launched from.

No matter it come or not. The dealer has to make sure there is not before delivery. that is what we pay the pre-delivery for.
