Odd are that the catch on the front panel is stiff as.... You'll only end up snapping the cable if you heave ho too much. Get another person to press down on the bonnet above the catch (not denting pressure  ) and try the cable pull again. If this fails then get some long nose pliers and grip the actual cable under the dash and repeat the process. The idea is that the second person takes the friction of the catch and makes it easier to pull.

If you do manage to open it CRC and then oil the catch, working it until it's freely moving. When you're happy that it is, wipe/blow off the oil and then white grease it. It would also pay you to detach the cable and elevate it to a height where you can slowly drip oil sown into the outer casing. Might need to do that overnight. I know that the best lubricant is graphite but good luck trying to get it in :D

You mean the aircooled club has a cruise.
I'm sure when the HSV owners have a cruise they don't invite FJ Holden owners.
Big difference.

Anyway....

You're more than welcome on our "watercooled" run Foolio. The aircooled cars are taking a seperate route and meeting together at the end. Should be good. I'll check the dates.

I've just rechecked the permissions for this forum and guests aren't allowed to post here. So, if it is you posting as a guest delux, please log in twice. If guest posts continue I'll have to trace and delete that user and they will have to re register.
Also, if anyone has personal comments to make to another user, email them, pm them, 'phone them, call them up on the UHF, bloody telegraph them or knock on their door and tell them face to face. BUT DON'T DO IT ON THIS FORUM! It only wastes the time and the patience of us all (Particularly me  .)

Plans for the car:
Want to keep it as original as possible. But so far about to put in my koni Sports adjustables (Rear), and Monroe Gas Shocks with cut sports springs in this weekend. Would like to make a few modifications, open to suggestions! Also, the old bus likes to overheat a LOT, within a few minutes. Any one with any ideas to whats going on.....

Thanks all. Zac

Nice car mate. Overheating issues always start with cheapest fix first if no one knows what it may be.

It has water / coolant anti freeze.

All hoses are secure and not crimped anywhere preventing water flow. (Radiator, heater etc)

Bad timing? too far retarded

Radiator cap ensure it is releasing pressure, I do not know what Golf cap is set at. An example would be 11lbs pressure. If suspect replace it.

Thermostat, does it have one? is it working replace if suspect.

I am not sure how many welsh plugs a Golf engine has need to confirm none are leaking.

Water pump?

Head gasket?

It is a process of elimination if you have no tell tale signs unfortunately

That is all I can think of ( and I am no mechanic)

Good luck with it.
