great little car 'one lady owner' but as it's 10 yrs young now, so little niggly things are starting to happen. I don't earn much at the moment so i do sweat the small stuff!
Latest is driver side door lock - the action has gone - and I know it's not the end of the world but, it is a little tedious having to walk round/past the passenger side every time I need to lock and un lock the doors (no central)

What am I up for $$ wise for this job? Do I need to take it to the boys at VW (after I stop and hold up a bank on the way)
How do I maintain the one key option - thanks guys really appreciate your help on this one.

What exactly does the door do or not do.
Does it lock or unlock from the drivers side ?
When unlocked does the outer handle open the door ?
When you turn the key and hold do the windows go up/down ?
Don't worry about your key, the problem is likely to be the internal module, the locking barrel itself is separate and not likely the problem.

I'll move your thread over to the MK4 section

I had/have that same problem. Tried to fix it once, but then just bought a keyless entry kit and put that in. Easier than than getting it fixed! Haha

thanks for your reply - the lock does nothing , neither locks nor unlocks and no window function.....the door will open once the car has been unlocked from the passenger side though
