hey guys...whats your opinions on the Zender Turbo rims?
i have a friend with a e30 325 that had the zenders on it when he got it, ..he just went 17z and said i could have the zenders for 150 bux....
they look pretty trick when they polished and i guess for 150 bux i cant go wrong...anyone else here with zenders or an opinion on them????

I quite like the look of the turbos. altho i think a 16" rim is nicer on a mk2
But i think u should pass them up and your friend should sell them to me :)

You sure are a kind man Tim, generous to the core.

For $150 bux, buy them and then see what happens. No big investment. I think that they are cool.

yeah..ill get them on and post some pics up.
i think with 15s it mite need a very slight drop in ride height.
im running Koni springs n struts, but still sits about 20mm too high in the front even with 17s.......
ill keep you lot posted :)

Got the Zenders tonight heres a quick pic (in the dark)
the discoulored bits polish off, and ill give em a bit of a clean up tomorow.
no gutter bashes or marks in them anywhere...however they have 205/55 tyres :-( and it scrapes a fair bit now cause they stick out furthur than the 17s......looks very fat from the front and rear now.

195's aren't really wide enough imo. Toyo T1-R 205/45/15. Nice wheels although they always looked better without TURBO emblazened on the side...

yea, they sit quite snugly in the arches though, i recon 205/45s may still scrape...plus i wanna lose a bit of ride height out of the front to even it up a bit....the 205/55s now sit pretty much on the gurad in the rear end now ...
ill have to do some lipping and doctoring later this morning.....

I'll keep the 17z for the GTi-R i recon....but its always handy to have lots of rims anyway

lol..we wait and see, im not shure they suit the mk2 ....need some time to ponder.....
i honestly think they would look good with a later mk2 with big bumpers, or an earlier one wihout arches :-S hmmmmmm...

i decided to start hand polishing the outers on the rims, when and got some 1200 grit and a tube of autosol and ralized they have 5million coats of primer under the paint :-(
as u can see here ............

BUGGA!

they look really good from the front and rear because they fill out the guards really well, but im not shure about side on.....grrrrr.....
why am i so fussy!!!!!

I think your right they belong on a mk1 they look too fussy with the plastic arch trim.

Had some 7 by 15 Zenders myself from a 3 series BM and found they were too wide as they poked out past the guard.
Also they just didn't look right just couldn't put my finger on it ,
They got moved on to another BM where they looked a lot better suited than a Golf.
There seems to be a few Golfs around with silly offset wheels that would be impossible to drive on the road without serious guard rubbing problems so be wary.

yea, theese came off a 3 series e30. and zender made a special edition MK2 with those wheels and a tacky body kit :-S ewwww..
http://www.vwwatercooled.com.au/forums/images/imported/2006/04/zenderglf-1.jpg

seen a few pics of euro mk2s running them, and they do look quite good polished up..but they are usually with no arches etc.
they sit just on the arch with 205/55s and i think they would just squeeze in if the lips were rolled..plus im sittin' pretty low in the rear..
im shure a set of 195/50s would be more suited to them if they were going on a golf that has lost some ride height.
either that or some flared guards.....if i had the money, and it wasnt a GTI i would run them with 215s and big flares, hahahahahahah

here is some i found amongst my GOLF folder

they seem to look nice on plain golfs with no arches :-S
