Hey everyone. Introduced myself in the newbies section the other day, and within a couple days have now signed the deal for a Jetta. :)

Very excited. Got the standard 118tsi for $30.5k drive away including alloys (navarra I think?) and floor mats. I'm pretty happy with the deal, think I did very well. From the Solitaire dealer at Hawthorn in SA.

Let me know what you think guys. :)

Is it a DSG or manual ???

DSG. I hope all those pesky engine issues are far behind us now. Surely not all the engines had issues! Very excited, can't wait to hear an ETA on delivery.

Jetta is slightly different to the Golf DSG so you should be sweet.

Need pics :)

Just accepted delivery of it yesterday. First new car, and what a beauty she is. The dark grey colour is amazing, and the alloys I got put on in the end were 16" Sima, they also look fantastic.

Coming from my dads old 94 Swift it's certainly a bit of a change, and the DSG is taking a bit of a feel to get used to. I actually had it in manual mode on the way home yesterday as I was stuck in crawling traffic, so all I did was keep it in 1st basically and that felt good. Drive mode always wanted to shift me into 2nd or 3rd crawling at a slow pace. I figure driving in manual when it's bumper to bumper might be easier on the clutch overall.

Some pics will follow later! I'll be spending most of the weekend driving around!

Not sure on the petrol I'll fill up with yet, the dealer liked Shell, but the opinion around here seems to be BP Ultimate is favoured. I'm in Adelaide, any other locals have a preference?

Yes always use BP ultimate, unless you are absolutely stuck somewhere.

AND

Check the oil level once per week.

If you get a tune they're usually locked to 98-RON as well. i..e if I had to fill up with 95 then I'd have to turn the tune off via the cruise control stick.

My oil level is fine in between 15k services though (do check every now and then as well)
