According to Volkswagen (http://www.4wheelsnews.com/category/volkswagen/)’s R&D chief Ulrich Hackenberg, the sporty Up GT will finally go on sale in 2013. For those who don’t know, the Up GT was unveiled in a concept form (http://www.4wheelsnews.com/2011-frankfurt-motor-show-vw-study-gt-up-is-small-and-fast/) last year and featured a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine delivering 100 PS, a lot, as the total weight of the car is only 900 kg. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, the vehicle will feature a new design consisting of a new central cooling air intake with a honeycomb grille, new wing-shaped LED daytime running lights, black door mirrors, side sills, a roof spoiler as well as a new exhaust system with two chromed tailpipes. The design will be completed by a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high performance tires.
