Hi All,
I've bought myself a black Scirocco R recently, just thought I'd say hi and also to find out which of you kind people in WA would be able to give me tips and pointers.
I lost my Astra VXR three weeks ago when this chick on drugs rear ended me at 80kph (I was standstill) and wiped out my car. I found the Scirocco to be a worthy replacement and loved the shape as soon as I saw it.
Any other Scirocco boys or girls in Perth to meet up sometime?
Thank you in advance for all the forthcoming 'noobie' questions I might have.

Hi mate,
yeah she might have done me a huge favor, and done herself real good: uninsured, owes my insurer $30k, court order & fine for DUI and reckless driving.
For starters i'm ordering the DSG tab extensions, tinting (front only) this friday, and spacers (10mm & 15mm) to come soon. I need to speak to the warranty officer and find out which mods will void warranty and which will not.
I'm happy with the performance right now although I came from a Stage 1.5 VXR, at least the rocco feels smooth like a big block engine. Peak power doesn't bother me, but I'm impressed with it's delivery through the revs and hence it's more acceptable for daily driving. So if I'm gonna go down the performance route, for sure i'll start by ditching that silly pre-cat pipe and getting a flash.
My priority right now is to get H&R springs and maybe some dished wheels. The OEM wheel to body gap is 'illegal' by any sports car standards lol. Worried about scraping but... what do u think?

lowering is a must!!

spacers are actually illegal, and may void car insurance, so be informed before you decide to go that route. If you go dished wheels, get something wider and lower offset to negate the need for spacers

Cheers for the info mate. You're right, I might as well just get proper wheels instead of mucking around with illegal stuff.
At the moment I'm trying to observe the current right height to see what I can clear and what I can't, and figure out how bad it'll be once it's lowered. The gap between the wheel and body is large, very large, but that said the front bumper is already quite low. Damn straight it'll look good lowered, but I don't know the convenience side of it. Gone were the days where we were 18yo driving lancers with super low springs lol.

I believe minimum legal clearance is 100mm, so work out how much your front has to be lowered to achieve 100m, then deduct that from your wheel gap to see if it solves the appearancve problems.
when you are looking at lowering, use coilovers and you can customise your ride height and will get a much better ride that just lowered springs. You also get the option to adjust if you find its not low enough or you need more clearance etc.
(also consider buying overseas and get typically much lower pricing)

Yes coilovers are def the best bet for a fully customized height setting. It's just that it's gonna cost a lot to get one that suits the rocco's electronic dampers, not to mention affecting the warranty (i think?).
Everyone knows that whatever available overseas is always cheaper. In the day we live in now, anything local costs an arm and a leg sadly.
Will go measure the clearance and see if the 35mm H&R springs will suffice or not, cheers!

Nice to see another opelaus member on here! A few of us seemed to have shifted to a VAG product!

Haha, decided to shift to the mainstream product and find out what the fuss is all about. Looking good so far!

Hi mate, Lionel isn't it? I'm a lurker on opelaus as well for event posts etc. One of the local members here Greggo has a black 'Rocco too so he might be able to give you some pointers otherwise check out the Scirocco section.
Day of the Volkswagen coming up in December & hopefully another event before that in November. Come and say hi!
