You'll see them around on OzAudi and eBay very occasionally. In the meantime, there's these...at 7.5" wide, maybe a tad OTT

I wanted to get some Golf GTI rims and have them painted but they don't fit :(. So I went with the TT rims after seeing a pic of one in the UK.

Wheels are 17" width is 7 or 7.5. They came with 225/45's that scrubbed with the stock suspension. So I got new tyres (205/40/17) and now its basically the same rolling diameter as stock to 0.8%.

I got mine on the Vortex and legend had them painted for me. Cost just over $1K.

Edit - The offset is a little different to the stock rims so I get some scrubbing on the front. Car is only lowered 25mm all round.

Also on a lowered polo is it possible to run 215/40/17 or do you HAVE to stick to 205?

If you like the wheels, get them. Only thing I have seen is the odd comment re quality of some Tempe wheels.

As to 215/40s, I think you will need to have a test fit. It really depends on the wheel offset and even given the number, no-one can really say without seeing them on.

As I am thinking 215/40s for my next tyres, please let me know how you get on ;)

mitch_gti
23-08-2007, 10:07 AM
My local tyre shop is getting wheels from tempe for me. If im unhappy with the quality i wont buy them. But they do have a warranty of sorts ''They are made with the same fine materials as the original wheels and carry a comprehensive Lifetime Structual Warranty.''

They dont make any RS4 replicas in 17inch ! even though the website says so.

What they do have are exact replicas of S4 wheels.

My local tyre shop says $1800 for S4 replicas fitted, balanced with Michelin Pilot Preceda 2. They just rung and told me to only fit 205/40 tyres

Which has tempted me....

hey GT3 - i don't know what I missed with all those posts - but you are right - it moves around a lot on the dyno.

If we were going to keep her long term - we would do the subframe & control arm bushes with a harder material.

Thinking about that - I think there would be more benefit there than a strut tower brace, but also harder bushes could also mean harsher ride trade off....:?

well what about the guys who do have a family to cart around - why cant they have a choice too??? - theres a place for all of them IMHO - and im thankful to have a choice from VW - besides the extra doors dont make it so much heavier that it isnt sporty

Well bud its not that low, but stanced. To tell a bit more, I wanted a more masculine appearance with the standard wheels & I think that I'am very very close to what I was after.
Suspension = KW-v3's, totally adjustable.
1" down on the front & 1.5" on the rear.
But added off-set of 10mm on the front & 15mm on the rear which has pretty well polished off what I was after. At the same time of doing this, Shaneth fitted a inlet & a tip & I already had APR done.
Now the wife of over 30yrs, has to move over.
The Little Blue Girl has now been converted to a fully grown male member of society

So today, i was feeling defective with the polo.... was bored sitting at home under this horrible cold weather. in my ravage of my garage, i found a roll of tint (duno why?!)

So, i know its a dodgy job, but it was done in 5mins and i wanted to see how tinted taillight looks on the car....so here it is!! lol

http://aycu09.webshots.com/image/28368/2004195519749144718_rs.jpg

PS: for all those concern, the tint was off and gone after the photos....the install looks so dodge!!! :(. so doubt that if it was done properly, it'll look much much nicer. =)

I hate the rice lights on the back of the polo, always have. I've thought about tinting them before.

Hey flaps, this photo was with the lights on. Except the direct sunlight made it impossible to see. the tint is off after i took tho photos. given those tints, i think it'll be pretty hard to see through in day time..(aka pretty dangerous on the road)...

i am in the same boat as you, i find those chrome circle not so pretty. at one point, i was thinking of taking apart the housing and just painting it to red or something to hide it.
