Hey guys

I installed the FK AK Coilovers last night and the front wheels are rubbing against them!! Any thoughts on what I could do?? I am trying to track down some spacers at this stage. Desperate as I cant drive my car :(

What wheels have you got and what is the offset. Not heard of any std VW wheels touching coilovers that I can think of.

What part is in contact, the spring/seat or the shock itself. Can you post a picture?

I have R32 replicas, 18x8 +35. Its hitting the spring itself when lowered. I dont have a pic sorry Gavin :(

So if you run it high enough there's no contact?

I'd say that's your only option, the combination of offset and wheel width/diameter working against you.

There are lowered top mounts which get you another 10mm or so, maybe if you fitted a pair, you could run the spring 10mm higher for the same lowering effect but avoid the spacer?

Not a bad idea, thanks Gavin. The spacers are a real pain for VW...the universal ones dont seem to fit as easily.

PolyBush Polyurethane Top Mounts (Pair) - Golf Mk4 etc + Lupo/Polo 6N/2 > Suspension > Golf Mk4 1998-2004 > VW Golf > VAG Specialists > PSI Tuning - VAG Specialists (http://www.psituning.com/product.php/20097/polybush_polyurethane_top_mounts__pair____golf_mk4 _etc___lupo_polo_6n_2)

This was what I was thinking.

Take the helper springs out?
It's hitting the adjuster I'm guessing...

Just make sure that you know the impact of removing the helper springs...

m0ar lowz and street cred?!?!

Yes, suspension manufacturers put helper springs on their coilover products just to rob you of your lowz and street cred...

*facepalm*

I am not saying don't do it - just be aware of what the repercussions are if you do.

Yeah should have mentioned there is a few things to keep tabs on if you do it.
Mainly when jacking the car up or putting it on the hoist. Chance of the main spring unseating and doing damage when u put the car back on the ground
