I hate the scirocco tail lights they are so ugly, the only new top of the range car without those sexy led's ??... Somthing needs to be done? Oh and btw the after market ones all over google are rubbish aswell

Haha yeah, they are getting a bit dated now. Would be cool if they were a bit more unique or iconic in some way.

On the topic of tail-lights, E Class Mercs have the most blinding set of rear LEDs... O_O

Are there any other alternatives to this??

I was hoping Golf16SE would come up with some stunning design ideas....apparently not.

We also have to recognise this is not a new car it is in design terms about 7 years old and a relatively low volume model. I'd like some nice LED's too but I'm not going to worry too much about what I can't see.

I'm with Andych on this one.

Sure most of the other models have LED taillights but this just makes the Scirocco more individual.

However in saying that i would love it if i could make ours more of a cherry red like the R36 tails.

hi mate,

i bought the smoked red golf r style tails from dectane and they fit no problem. all up came to around $400AU for the pair.
took just under 2 weeks to arrive delivered from germany to australia post via dhl with tracking.

took me 10mins to fit too.

Well each to his own I guess but personally that is a total waste of $400 as they look crap...
You could have spent 1/4 of that and had the OEM Lights smoked for the darker cherry look... would have been way better IMHO.

I'm with Andy on this one. Not much design integrity and not really that much like the Goldf R lights- which do have integrity and do look good.

Sorry they are a fail AFAIC

I find that those individual LED's are spaced out too far apart. Makes them look very 'after market' cheap. But you're right. Each to his own. As long as you're happy with them, that's what counts.

sorry if my last post came across a little hostile mate. agreed I could have saved myself a fair amount of cash if I had got them smoked but finding someone in my area willing to do it was a challenge for legal reasons etc. would have done it myself but didnt want to risk stuffing it up. lucky you managed to get the white rocco looks great especially with the wheels you've got on it.

Its all good.... I didnt take any offence at your comment... as I said... Each to their own...
I am with Mac135 in that they just don't look integrated....but you obviously like them and that is all that matters...
Thanks for the compliment on my Roc... the wheels were an interesting exercise but well worth it, all I need to do now is sort out the rear tyre size... 265x30 just isn't wide enough...lol Oh... and lower it a little more...

These look ok (my opinion) but i want to know why each of the four led elements that are on the Golf R look like they are "one piece" yet all the aftermarket ones look lie they are made up of a series of individual leds , which of course they are.

I guess i'll be keeping the originals

That's exactly what I was saying before. The LED's are spaced out too much. They don't cluster them together like on the Golf R. I'm holding out until they come up with some decent after markets before I make any changes.

It actually depends on the angle of observation as to whether the Golf R LEDs appear integrated or not. On the vertical plain they do look like one strip, but if you view slightly to one side (which is a less-often photographed angle), they do stand apart.

I reckon the main issue with those fitted by london_se23 is there aren't enough distinct LEDs to allow them to be bunched closely together.

I reckon it is the curved line that connects the leds and integrates the. Look. This is a tick from me.

Any reason why your taking them out?

Very easy to install mate. Open the boot and use a flat piece of plastic to unclip the small carpet squares on each side of the boot.
Unscrew the white plastic butterfly bolts inside the hole where you removed the square panel and gently pull the light out remembering to unclip the electricals which all go into a plug at the back of the light just after you pull it out a little way.

If the lights are LEDs, chances are they're drawing a lot less current, and your car thinks your bulbs are out. When LEDs are fitted to the Golf, changes need to be made to the coding of the Central Electrics module - I'd assume the same is required for the Scirocco.

Failing that, you'd probably need to purchase some adapters, or else get an auto-electrician to make you some adapters, that draw additional current from the system to equal the consumption of the regular bulbs.

As long as the lights are actually working as intended then its a coding issue. U need Vagcom to code the ECU for LED tail lights
