View Full Version : Revving higher than normal on first start up

My Bora 4mo is having issues at the moment, the engine will fire up on first turn every morning without fail, but lately it will rev to 2k rpm instead of the usual tick over 1k that it used to do on choke.
sometimes it will idle normally then just burst up to 2k while still cold, a blip on the throttle usually sorts it out.
My thought is it may be a sticking throttle body.
any other thoughts ??

You could clean the throttle body then carry out a reset this may help. You should also check for any faults you might possibly have an air leak.

Clean and adapt throttle body?
a scan might reveal something.

Will try and get that done this weekend if the weather plays along, I don't fancy working under the bonnet when the outside temp is in single digits :-)

Just wondering how everyone else's idle is?

Mine is usually at 750rpm but sometimes when it's cold it starts off at 1250rpm but then after a minute or two goes down to 750rpm. I only noticed this after my last service so not sure if it's normal or not?

mine does the same .. 750 normal .. when cold a tick over 1100 ..

Mines pretty much exactly the same. Seems to be the normal.

Mine was petty much the same, it is just recently that it kicks up to 2000. A quick blip gets it back under control once it is warmed up.
