just wanted to show you guys my new baby and ask a bit of advise. I had previously owned a golf III but unfortunatelly it came into harms way. So thanks to the good people at RACV who only took 7 months to pay me out i am now the proud new owner of 2002 bora v6

I have just ordered a set of coilover from bilstein (b14's) and am looking forward to picking a nice set of wheel for it. Are any of you guys riding on coilovers and if what are they like.

Also wanted some advice on a new set of wheels, should i go 17 or 18. I want something simple like the original 5 spoke from the v6 bora sports but i dont really want to fork out 400+ for each wheel.

heres some pix of my ride as is, if you guys like i will upload more pix after coilovers are installed

18's would look the part. I was actually looking for a bora initially before I got the GTI.

Congrats on the purchase - sorry to hear about the Mk3.

Have you had a look at the S4's wheels? That may be an option for you that maintains the OEM+ look....

its a very similar drive to the vr6, perhaps a little quicker of the mark and the gear shifts are shorter plus there is 6 of them:) however the engine is a few years newer then the vr6 therefore i would expect it to perform slightly better also my bora is the 24v and if im correct the vr6 was 12v? In regards to handling they are a bit stiffer around corners than the vr6 but perhaps my mates vr6 had a bit of a shoddy suspension. I will be getting a set of coilovers in the next few days so im sure it will stiffen up things a bit but should be a lot of fun, ill let you know how it goes. if you like the the way the vr6 drives and are not to worried about burning 12l/100k+ around the city you would definately love the bora. if your ever around prahran, melb id be more than happy to take you for a drive

Nice car a SEXY black as well... I always want to know more about Boras. That would be my first option when get a proper job I reckon... I would LOVE to ride in them.. So you reckon the engine sounds similar to VR6, most probably more reliable as well.

i didnt even know they fit 20's. did they go straight on?? what kind of wheels are they? i am having trouble finding a good selection of wheels anywhere. seems that all the wheels i like arent available in 5/100. is it a bumpy ride?

shows how much i know, i thought that the v6 boras had the same engines as the vr6 except that after 2002.5 they were 24v. however in my non-expert opinion they sound and perform almost the same.

nah no adjustables.. just reset of stock springs..
the ride would be pretty harsh, low pros and would be bouncyyy

But oh so worth it if it looks like that!!! Maybe a bit too bling for me too but with mesh dish that would be hot! :)

Very nice car mate. I think i saw a bora on cardomain with a set of 18" R32 wheels and i thought that they suit bora better than a golf. Have a look there, you might find it

didnt he apparently change the plate due to getting pulled up all the time? (couldnt see why you would... lol)

20" would be SO heavy and definately not good for the drivetrain, and the chances of you buckling a rim would be high as 95% of people would only buy wanli or nankangs which the sidewalls are not reinforced enough and tend to give in very quickly over very minimal pot holes :P FYI :)

dre, try mag wheel tyre centre in vic. they are really good (www.mwtc.com.au) or if you after hr racing wheels, mak, atp wheels let me know :P

atp raze wheels are hawt! (like xxx-18ts audi's wheels)
