Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has debaged the rear hatch on their GTI? Do the individual letters have guides which protrude into the hatch itself or are they just glued on?

Thanks for your help!

They have a self adhesive backing on the letters, no holes should be left!

I have no badges on my VR6, mind you I didn't take them off, they were gone when I bought it and I wouldn't have taken them off myself...

Having said that, I like my little sleeper ;)

I'm considering getting my sideskirts and rear apron colour coded red. If I decide to go ahead with it I think I'll debage the polo as well in the attempt to get the sleeper look! In my opinion the trade mark of the VW GTI is the honeycomb grill surrounded with the red striping not the little GTI bages lol :)

Your on drugs right? I can understand wanting to make it a sleeper, however you'll need to change wheels, remove the honeycomb grille, the red stripe. Normally sleepers are cars that look like crap from the start and get built up underneath.

The TM of the GTI is the badge and to a lesser extent the red stripe which was found on the original MK1 GTI. The honeycomb grille has only been on this MKV Golf and Polo.

Maybe Smoothed would be a better term?

I've been thinking of blacking out the VW badges. Does anyone know where I can buy a couple for the Polo so I can swap them over from time to time?

The front and rear Badges are around $100 each from vw but i am sure ebay would have something.
I have painted my front looks good i think lol.

Took the plunge today, with a friend (yaris YRS), we did some debadging....

I had already done the front ages ago.... one of the clip was broken from way before, and i thought i'll finish the job! =P.. This afternoon, I took the back off. Have to say, it looks abit werid, but the back end does look MUCH MUCH more cleaner without the badge. Here's A picture. The night was dark, couldn't get any better pictures. I'll post some daytime one ater on...

Adam what did you use to clean the goo off the paint after badge removal?

Adam what did you use to clean the goo off the paint after badge removal?

i used a heat gun to melt it alittle. some of them just rubbed off with a bit of finger work... The rest i used WD40, and it worked a treat... After that, i gave it abit of a clean with meguair quik detailer...
