Hi guys,

I am in need of some friendly assistance.

Problem:

I have installed a LED C Version RNS510 into my R32 yesterday. Everything worked (incl MFD status and steering wheel controls etc). But, somewhere along the line, the red circle with the arrow inside it isn't moving as you are driving along. I have searched, and searched and searched some more (everywhere).

Please note: This is the circle with the red arrow on the actual RNS510 ''Map'' screen not the MFD!

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Park the car outside, away from trees and tall buildings, and see how many satellites you can pick up in the current position menu.

Hey man,

The satellites visible are 11 and the satellites tracked are 8.

did you press and drag on the map? when you do this it scrolls to where you have "clicked" an no longer follows your path.

when you hit "nav" what does it show as your current location?

I did press and drag on the map last night, however the actual map still moves around when using navigation not the red circle with the arrow. How do I reset it back?

I've got to check that second question out and get back to you ASAP.

Thanks :)

also, i cant rmember which screen it is, but try starting a new nav route and see if it re-appears. Not sure if you've selected on some button that looks like a car and all the arrows or something like that.

Will see if I can RTFM...

I seem to recall doing this myself and thinking I'd stuffed it  But if I recall correctly there is an icon in the top-right corner that if you press will bring the arrow back to your cars position. I think it looks like a birds eye view of the car with four arrows around it...

That is the button you want to press on screen!

Just follow the instructions to reboot the unit and it will be fine again.

Mik,

I've tried already rebooting the unit, and it still hasn't fixed the problem using < + > and the star button. What should I try next?

Has the direction arrow ever moved on the screen?

Yes. When I had the unit installed in my previous car ''the TDI MKV'' the direction arrow would always move. According to VW specifications it's supposed to move when travelling along. What do you think it could be Mik?

***UPDATE***

Got a chance to do some recollection/thinking yesterday.....and did my best to recall the sequence of events on whether I may have accidently pressed buttons or dragged my fingers on the map.

So, while on my study break last night, I played around with the setup menu's and accessed the secret menu. After about a 20 minute drive, the red arrow with the circle started to move as I was driving along. I then pressed the button in the topright hand corner in the ''Map'' section of the RNS510 screen. I recall correctly there is an icon in the top-right corner that if you press will bring the arrow back to your cars position. I think it looks like a birds eye view of the car with four arrows around it. THIS HAS SOLVED THE PROBLEM! BINGO

First things first, many thanks to everyone who read my thread, those that took time to post a response, PM me and I would also like to say thanks to Steve (FJ Steve) and Stuart (Ozram) who thru his PMs sounded about as worried as I was, and his generous offer to search Youtube and the web.

What a great bunch you all are! What would I do without you all
