DSG tunes have become a large part of my business of late. I thought I would post some information and prices.

Tunes are available in Phases like the rest of the Custom-Code range. Phase 1 is the common or garden variety and Phase 2 allows some specifics to be custom written into your tune. A fuller explanation is given in the JBS link below.

The Early DQ250 boxes are found in the majority of MK5 Golfs and Jettas.

The Late DQ250 is in the MK5 Pirelli and MK6 Golf R

DSG Tuning Software - JBS (http://www.jbs.co.uk/category/285/dsg-tuning) This refers specifically to the 6 Speed DQ250

DQ250 Late

wow mate. That is more then competitive compared to others. As soon as our Tig has done a few thousands I might have to consider this....

Does that mean I should put up the prices? :D

This is a separate tune. It is flashed into the mechatronics, the late boxes need to be read through the disconnect plug on the box, early ones through the OBD. Both are flashed through the OBD.

Which DQ200 version would be best suited for an APR Stage 1 Mk6 Golf 118TSI with S3 Intercooler?

And did I read that right - we'll get launch control with this? (probably includes spinning wheels and wheel hop I guess). Does this also change down earlier in D to avoid driving under 1700rpm where there's no power?

Thanks

Hi Ryan, I'll check the specifics on changes with the UK and get back to you.

I would expect the Phase 1 to be adequate for your requirements.

That DSG tuning page has been around since they first started with the 6 speed DSG. There's no LC, sorry for the confusion.

Gavin
EDIT with info

The main areas we tune on the DQ200 are shift time, smoothness, torque limit and roll on characteristics (how the car behaves after stopping and driving on).

Phase 1 will be more than adequate for a car with APR stage 1.

Hi there,
Any chance that you will be in Melbourne anytime soon? If not is there anyone that I can see in Melbourne to get my DSG reflashed with custom code phase 2

Ditto what ForceFed is saying, Gavin tweaked my ride with a Stage 1 on the ECU and the DSG last week. Makes everyday driving far smoother and in Drive hangs on to third gear to use the new down low torque in lieu of changing down to second gear as before. The amount of extra torque down low in any gear is amazing, it all feels so effortless. Highly recommended, thanks Gavin.

Hey Gavin,

Any update on when DQ500 7speed is coming out for us Tig owners?

Shall we expect it by this Christmas or next? ;)

How quick does she get to 100kph with it?

I'm pretty sure Tig comes standard with launch control. I think with the DSG upgrade you can increase the RPM at launch.

Though why you'd want to do that in a Tig I'm not so sure. Sitting at the lights with the engine at 4,000RPM in a Tig?

If you wanted to put it down the 1/4 mile then I'd understand it but I prefer to drive my Tig in stealth mode and take them by surprise.

Hi mate,
haven't actually done a proper timing run. Apart from lack of facilities up here (read none) - I don't have a copilot to time while I drive. I did a 0-100 using Torque on smartphone (no LC but) and got 7.9s without really trying (ie. in "D").
Took my brother for a spin recently (he has hotted up EF Falcon) and his response when I used LC was "holy sh*t", so guessing it's not bad :P

Yup - would be nice to know, but more about driveability than bragging rights IMO :)

Having said that - am possible coming to Brissie next month, and might do a speed run or two. Can anyone turn up at Qld Raceway (Ipswich), or do they only do them at certain times/events?

I have been leaning on them this weekend mate and no commitment on a release date :(

Well then I wouldn't be too worried if you have LC or not since I'm in mid-high 6's. :)

No doubt it feels faster in a bigger car. Or is it the other way around

oh btw I did actually buy the HP DSG tune last week, so far so good (review is in his thread)

can the DSG tune be applied to a B7 Passat TDI with 6 speed DGS?
I was thinking of getting sprint booster but now this changed my mind

Cool! and how much?
Is this done on the cars ECU coz last time I asked for a tune they said our ECU will need to be pulled out of car.
Also will a scheduled service ECU upgrade wipe the DGS tune off?

Thanks

Engine ECU and DSG controller are separate boxes of electronics. Depending on security you may need to remove them from thee vehicle to program.

This is true. The DSGs sometimes need to be read direct from the gearbox plug but they can all be flashed through the OBD. Engine ECUs from about mid 2009 are mostly anti-tune and need opening up to be placed into boot mode to read and right to them.

Sorry, I missed your post James. I am looking to come down to the VW Nationals at the end of May. I haven't made firm plans as to where and when I'll be doing stuff. With the amount of jobs I have to catch up on, I can see me being in Sydney from maybe wednesday night until Sunday arvo.

Cheers

Gavin
