Backing out of the driveway at home last night and you know I really couldnt see.
The reverse light(s) is terrible on this thing.
Maybe a LED swap is required I think

Couldnt agree more - the single reverse light on the passenger side of the car in my Golf is absolutely useless at night. Ive tried several "Canbus error free" replacement LED bulbs but they produce even less light and all of the ones ive tried have thrown up a bulb error on the dash - so i gave up and put the original bulb back in.

On the Golf's (not sure if the Roc's have this - but worth checking) you can pull the light switch out which activates a rear fog light. This fog light is quite bright and can help with visibility when reversing (turn headlight switch to the ON position and then pull the switch out).

Reverse camera is a good thing. Pain in the arse to fit but worth it especially on the Rocco.

Maybe a clear lens could be put into the fog light to use as an extra reversing light.

Best solution is the RVC as Kevin said.

I installed Racing Dash LED numberplate lights, combined with custom resistors from Jaycar. They throw a lot of light behind the car, and in conjunction with the reversing camera, backing up at night is easy. I barely notice any difference in illumination via the camera whether the reversing light be on or off.

(I wasn't initially using the LEDs because of issues with heat and fault codes - both were present in spades - but since I've installed the much better spec resistors, I've had no codes and no concerns about heat dissipation either.)

Isn't the std bulb a halogen? Next logical step would be a HID wouldn't it?

Confirmed
We do indeed have the pull out light switch for fog light
