Hey everyone,

So, I was given one of those goupon things for a $50 'major service' at autoco in belconnen, canberra. Took the polo GTi in, hadn't had a service since 70K and its was about 87K. The guy checked it out pretty well, gave me a list of things that need looking at but the voucher didn't include the cost of fully synthetic oil which is fair enough but on the invoice he charged me 5.5L of fully synthetic. I was having a read of the service manual and for the 110kW GTi engine it reckons the oil capacity is 3.3L? Have I been had and the guy has just said 5.5L or has he actually put in 5.5L and I don't know what I'm on about?

Polo will take in the area of 4L. Unless he gives you the left over bottle, he's not really going to charge you for part of a bottle if he can't use it easily...

I usually supply my own,

The BJX takes at least 4.5litres to the top of the dimples on the dipstick cold. fair to charge 5ltres, unfair 5.5.
