Can anyone confirm whether the RCD510 (Premium) will allow for voice control over bluetooth? I have a bluetooth unit fitted (model 5K0 035 730 D).

Have done some searching and some people seem to suggest it needs to be activated using VCDS codes, but if that is the case, why wouldn't it be done before delivery?

found this:

except mine wasn't a retrofit - I would have thought it should be activated already.

the rcd510 does not have voice control capability, but based on the youtube, looks like the new ones can.
it was only the rns510 that had it.

if u have factory fitted bluetooth, the mic will wired to the bt unit, not the rcd510 unit. hence if u want voice control, u'll probably need to rewire the mic to the rcd510 directly, and reprogram the bt unit to used the rcd510's mic.

Some have managed to activate voice control with the RCD 510

Requires a particular bt unit and coding

Really isn't worth the effort

We have full voice control on wife's Fiesta and it really isn't that useful

Gimmick ;)

right. that sounds a little more complicated that I had hoped. might have to rely on Siri...

yeh, i tried to do it with mine, coding didnt take.
i thought it was a gimmick as well, honestly, i can dial on my iphone and it will transfer to the bt anyway,

+1
i hardly use it.
quicker to press the buttons than having to correct the lady cause she didn't understand ur voice command to "play radio preset 3".

Really useful when you say "call home" and the response back is "play radio preset 5".......real example that I can replicate. Have coded the microphone button to be a mute button. Much more useful
