Hi ozr,

In part the covered cupholder was done by the dealer - looks good and feels right.

I now have the parts for the covered cubbyhole but not yet taken up the challenge. Going to the UK for 10 days this weekend which means you wil likely get it finished before i'll make a start

Ordered mine from the dealership whilst I was picking up my car today. $192 for the entire piece, in piano black. Apparently they're in stock in Melbourne at the moment, so should only take a day or two to arrive to me. Hopefully before the weekend.

That price for the cup holder only or both the cubby hole and cup holder

It's the entire front assembly, and whilst I know that the price is a little steep, I didn't want to stuff around elsewhere for it, cause I knew I never would!

Hi ozr,

I understand this involves taking out several parts and putting them all back together. You reckon it'll cause any rattles later on?

I havent had any issues to date.
Just make sure you re-align all parts properly

Hey ozr, have you had that Cup car wing painted and fitted yet?
And some pics of the cupholder and Cubbyhole cover would be good... "hint" :P

ozr

Wing is painted but I havent had the time to fit it up yet.
I been crook and will admit a bit scared of pulling the wing apart.
I will take pics of cupholder/cubby and post but it looks like a covered cupholder.
Nothing really flash but it does look better I think

No drama's, you have to look after yourself first and foremost....
I think the term Mac might use is that it probably looks .... Finished! :P

Finished in deed.......

I can do a photo and post of the cupholder, still to tackle the cubby hole. Need some time and good weather as i have limited space to work and can't fully open the doors.

Will post tomorrow.

If I knew how to put pics up I would. Seriously improved look ....how it should have been really for a 60k car
Nothing hard about the fit up took me 2 hours and I was running up stairs every 2 minutes until I got the shuts and just nutted it out
I am really happy with the finished look of both parts and while there I moved the suspension switch over to my side
In summation a fantastic DIY

Ozr - looks good.

I think you have moved the ACC button while you had things apart. Makes sense much easier to reach in the new location. I'm preparing to do the same thing. Only difference is that I'm getting the lid of the cubbyhole finished in piano black.

Definitely worth the effort of fitting up
I had reservations about the paddle extensions but now they are on wouldn't have it any other way

ozr
18-06-2012, 06:39 PM
Yeah easy to move and had I been able to get the switch cover off and rotated I would have moved both switches
I thought of a diff colour but went with the flow
Really happy with the outcome

Looks good mate. Where did you get the paddle extensions? Are they stick on or replace existing?

Love the cupholder and cubby hole, what bits did you ask for from the dealer? Are they MKV Golf? That is one change I have got to make.

Carnut,

These might help for a start.

Covered Cup Holder - Roccopedia (http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccopedia/index.php?title=Covered_Cup_Holder)

Smokers Pack Installation - Roccopedia (http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/roccopedia/index.php?title=Smokers_Pack_Installation).

Don't be put off by the reference to smokers pack. That is just one variation.

Parts from mKv golf though i think the cupholder is shared with other models too. The surround for the cubby hole comes in either a four button or five button version. Both ozr and i have the five button.

Yep Mk5 and 6 parts will do the job
Definetely worth the challenge and really easy seriously
