DSG oli/filter service cost

Looking at a used Mk5 GTI which has done 50,000kms. What will the DSG service cost so that I can factor this into the negotiations?

I'd pay no more than $450 for having just the DSG serviced.

I did the ring around the dealers about 6 months ago and here's what they quoted me over the phone for a MKV GTI 60000km service:

Wangara Volkswagen
$1440

John Hughes Volkswagen
$1100

Osborne Park Volkswagen
$1400

DVG Melville Volkswagen
$1300

Try Golfwagen in Wangara http://www.golfwagen.com.au/index.php(though I think they've changed their trading name) or Quattro motors in Burswood, they're 2 independent VW service centres which are very good.

fwiw we had a our Jetta's DSG serviced at John Hughes a few years ago and they did a good job, no issues though was pricey, about what was quoted above.

Yep it's in there along with a long list of other 'checks' and 'replacements' they do. From memory one of the dealers broke down the costs for me and if I remember correctly the DSG alone was around $500. The only other VW servicing garage that I know of as shakespear mentioned is Quattro Motors. There's bugger all in Perth (that I could find) which make me sad :(

We wouldnt consider going to a non-dealer until the warranty expires. Our dealer charged just under 1300 for the 60,000 service with no extras. Changed everything except sparkplugs.

My DSG was done at 60ks by previous owner, then the 120k rolled around and I took it to Camden GTI. The DSG works brilliantly and we agreed to leave it alone as some DSG boxes had trouble with mechatronic etc post service.

Cant agree more mate thats mental, it needs a service every 60K for a reason, so i can only assume the engine was also working well, it still needed a service, man dont mess with the gearbox service get it done , totally false economy. Its preventative maintenance as is all the rest of the servicing, so leaving it is going to keep it good?? i think not.

Not sure I follow that logic so let's try the following logical extensions.

The engine was running fine so no need to change the engine oil and filter.

The engine was running fine so no need change the cambelt.

The brakes were working fine so no need to replace the pads.

It's called preventive maintenance for a reason.
