Hi all,

I'm new to this forum, and kind of new to watercooled VW's.

Technically I already owned a watercooled VW, but it is a 1968 VW Baja that I've put a Mazda V6 into the back of. This picture from my website sums it up;

Recently we decided to upgrade my wifes car. I was looking around at BMW's (3 series) among other cars, but in the end decided on the VW Passat.

It's pretty tidy for it's age. A small dent on the edge of the drivers door, and a few scratches, but overall pretty good. The wood trims on the actual doors have faded and cracked.

I'll probably be mainly reading the forum for a while, but will start asking questions.

I also bought the Bentley workshop manual from Amazon today for US$81 which seemed like a pretty good price.

I'll be keeping it standard for a while, but have already been looking into engine upgrades, aftermarket tail lights, chrome trim add-ons and wheels :)

The Baja has had many engines, an 1835cc air-cooled VW motor, 1776cc, 1916cc and finally the Mazda V6 :D

Hi,

Looks good. Have you been driving around the Drummoyne area lately?

It is a pity the car is auto, otherwise really nice. The leather has kept well.:) good job.

Tiptronic semi-auto. That is what I wanted, it's better in traffic jams, and the car is mainly for my wife who prefers an auto.

I live in Brisbane, so I don't even know where Dummoyne is :)
