Got some quotes from Klosters VW for the Allianz Extended Warranty

36 / 60000 - $2200
36 / time -100000kms - $2421

sounds like they are trying to shaft me anyone get any better deals?

Car is a 09 R36 Wagon with 30000kms

i know its dependant on age and kms of cars so if you can post these details it would be of help

How much are you willing to pay for peace of mind?

I don't think you will get it for under $2,000 from anyone to be honest. Even the discount on the Golf ones has dried up as the policy increases due to more and more claims.

Well ive seen 2 forum members get it under $2k so i just want to shop around and see what the best price is out there.

I guess if i can get it for $2k ill be happy.

They have changed a lot of the prices Costa due to changes from higher up.

Organizing mine was a painful experience to get it under $2k, and I got the impression they wouldn't be doing it for that price in future :(

Hi everyone,

I've been through the same exercise as a lot of you have.

Here is what I found and what i did:

1) Rang/mailed Michelle Traill, Rob from GC, and Troy from Nepean.

2a) Got quick response from Michelle and she has moved to Subaru Bill Buckle but still can arrange extd warranty
2b) Mail response back from Nicole (Rob/s rep from GC) with original quote price of $3100
2c) Left call back for Troy

3) Michelle quoted:

VW Extended Warranty, 24 months, unlimited kilometres, including Roadside Assistance. RRP $4350, Discounted for you to $2900.

Allianz Extended Warranty, 36 months, 75000 kilometres. RRP $3590, Discounted for you to $2564.29.

3b) From Nicole it was different:

allianz extd warranty 24 months $2,300 NO INCREASE IN MANUFACTURE ORIG KM (ie it stays at 100,000km); 36 months $3,300 NO INCREASE IN MANUFACTURE ORIG KM

When asked for reason it is due to my car being a second-hand car vehcile (R36 Wagon, 2009 , 2nd owner , 23,000km) and the price I purchased it for will impact the quote price AND, more importantly, the policy is capped at this value meaning I can only claim in total life over 2 or 3 years warranty up to this value.

3c) Spoke to Troy, he provided 3yrs at 75,000km for $1994.

I think you know what I went for.

The good work by all members especially Costa recently with Troy meant I got a great price and happy with his service.

Just wanted to keep this knowledge up to date.

Not so sure how many 2nd owners are also in this situation but you need to get this done (extd warranty) before your manufacture warranty expires. when purchasing extd warranty make sure you know when car was first purchased and use this date to drive when you commence extd warranty date - sounds obvious I know and apologies for this - I'm a PM so controlling things is in my nature.

Cheers

Hey,

I got mine direct through my finance broker issued by Allianz, for just under 2K (3years 100K) on my 09 R36 with 16,000klm.

I think in all I called four dealers only one got back to me, Klosters in Newcastle and they quoted me like 3.5K which was a bit steep!

Cheers

I got a quote for $2260 (Allianz 36mths extension of time) for my 2009 R36 sedan with 26000km from
New Car Warranty| Used Car Warranty| Motor Vehicle Car Insurance| Best Buy Car Warranty (http://www.extendednewcarwarranty.com.au)

Anyone bought their insurance through them before?
Is this average price for time extensions?

I received the PDS copy from Allianz from her as well.

Alan, if you plan to keep the car for another 2 yrs after the manufacturers 3yr warranty is up then I would get the extended warranty.

Hi Alan

It is a great question, but I would post it either into the diesel section, (there are stikies on this subject) or post into a new thread with the magic words "diesel injectors" after Passat extended warranty or whatever...

There are some great, passionate diesel peeps in this community, that may not be checking R36 headed threads...

Is it possible to extend again after the Alianz extended warranty expires?
By the way I also got mine for a smidgen under 2K. Well worth it so far as have had mechatronics replaced (luckily just before the 60K service was due) and parking switch at no expense.

VW did have a used car extended warranty (http://www.nmg.com.au/vw/images/service/POL270DEVW-Volkswagen%20Used%20Vehicle%20Extended%20Warranty% 20Policy%2012.07.pdf) which you could purchase as long as the vehicle was <12 years old, but I'm not sure if it's available any more. It's a little more limited than the "new car extended warranty", but it's better than nothing I suppose...

Hey Phil,
You can get a used car warranty. Both the Alliance and Swann products cover for unlimited claims totaling up to the value of the vehicle.
Speak to Kerry at LeaseWorks, 02 9687 2552, kerry@leaseworks.com.au.
Just got offered 36 months, 200kms for $2150 on a 2009 R36 with 109k km's on the clock.
Seriously thinking about it.

All - 2009 R36 with 109,000 k's. I can get a 200k/36mth used car warranty with Alliance or Swann for $2150.
The question is, is it worth it? Has anyone had problems and had to claim on the warranty or do we think I should save the cash?
Cheers- Ade

Couldnt get 36mths on mine due to the age on completion.

An update;

Got some latest quotes from a few and premiums has gone up 30%. Its now around $2.9k for an Allianz 3yr extension. They've come up with another warranty called Assured Allianz - basically difference is it does not cover the full car (ie. paint, exhaust, trims etc.)

I'm regretting not buying it a few mths earlier

Anyone had any luck recently?

Hi guys,

I have a 2009 R36 with 27k on the clock. The factory warranty ends in January 2013 and I am considering extending it. What are my options? (I am in Melbourne). It would be great to know what costs I'm looking at before calling around to get quotes. Thanks in advance!

How much is the 3 year Assured Allianz?

I got quoted $2380/ for that. It differs from the other Allianz one as it doesn't cover the whole car (below is an extract of the PDS):

Wheels, tyres, paintwork, panel and body work
and their components, including but not limited
to; handles and hinges, sunroof panels, antenna,
lamps and lamp units, weatherstrips and seals,
components made of glass and/or trim or decorative
components.

15. Interior trim components including, but not limited
to; seats and seat mechanisms, seat belts, carpets,
cup holders and ashtrays, components made of
glass and/or decorative components.

16. Exhaust system components including mufflers,
pipes and catalytic converters.

Swann & AVEA came in cheaper but they've got limitations on servicing requirements and limited cover as well (Ownership transfer is not simple in the AVEA one). My car is due for renewal in Jan 2013 as well. I'm still contacting a few and trying to get them to price match quotes.

Update:

I finally managed to price match on the cheapest quote I could get after months of hunting around.
$2727.27 for a new car extended warranty by Allianz for 36mth/75,000km extension from Jan 2013 @ Klosters VW where I purchased my R36.
Ineedwarrantynow.com.au was the 2nd best quote i managed to haggle at $2795/.

Good Luck everyone else!

I'm in the same boat now :(

I contacted a few of the guys mentioned in here almost a year ago and never chased it up. Now with my 3 year period coming up for expiry, I see the prices they are asking

And it would most likely be more now as the last post was in November!

From memory, you can only renew your extended car warranty (new) if it hasn't lapsed?

Yep noticed that but was asking if anyone had used them before? Went through the PDS and noticed the differences

So best price I have got is $2660 for the Allianz New Vehicle Extended Warranty from a broker. Pretty surprised with this as their initial quote was $3600! Bit a haggling can work wonders sometimes

Still waiting to hear back from Kerry to see if she can beat that but sounds pretty decent to me.

Yeah, same here.. VW don't provide a direct factory warranty. The Allianz one should cover everything that the factory one would.
