If you post this in the Tuning thread then Jmac will chime in and help you out. He is a Bluefin dealer.
Looks like it encountered an error while reading your cars stock file. Has the car been tuned previously? I think the D003 error means that its not the cars original file. Have you tried starting from scratch?

As Gavin mentioned above, if the previous owner installed a trial ECU upgrade like the ones that APR offer (which last for 6hours or thereabouts) then this might be your problem. Reason being is that that the ECU reverts back to an APR version of your stock tune, not your actual VW stock tune.
Note that I have used APR in my example above, but a couple of the other tuning brands do the same thing (GIAC I believe is another).
You will need to take it to VW to have the original file loaded back onto the car, then you will be ok to use the Bluefin.

Any tuner with the standard file could flash over it for you. It is imperative in my experience that the exact file that came off goes back in first.
Think of it as firmware, in that respect, the softcoding needs to be correct. Superchips might be able to help you out if you can get the ECU part number and softcoding.

Hi Gavin, superchips have confirmed it's not something they can help with...sigh...
Wondering if there's any tuners in Sydney locally who would be able to help, prefer not to go back to a dealer?
Contacted a dealer I explained the situation to him but I'm not sure if he understands to the full extent...
Would this just be an ECU reset? or is it called something else?
Have a chat with Arthur at Exoticars. He is a GIAC dealer but for a service fee he may be able to organise to have your car flashed back to 100% stock.
The GIAC suite should have no problem overwriting other tuners trial software

Personally i would pay the premium and go to the dealer, it could end up very expensive if the wrong software is loaded back onto your car.

Take it back to APR and have them remove the modified (non stock) file off the car and return it to how it was when it left the factory, they are usually pretty good about it. This is the safest way with the next option being a trip to VW and have them overwrite the data. It is risky to overwrite the existing code with your own software unless you know exactly what was on it and even then some can fail and cause you grief trying to revive it.
Once you've done that you can use whomever you wish to supply the tune for your car :)

How do you know it has APR on it? The OP doesn't & as mentioned, there are several other companies that do trials.
An APR dealer can easily flash over it (same as suggested that a GIAC dealer can) but of course there is a service charge - you never know, if you contact the original owner of the car (handbook or service records) your vehicle may already have a full tune installed (from any one of a number of providers).

True, my bad there, it could be Revo or GIAC too and I'm not sure on what their stance is with returning it to stock either.
EDIT: I see this is the same car as in the other post with a REVO tune on it

It wasn't until we opened the handbooks, it turned out to belong to an ex Revo dealer from Toowoomba - OPM sport & a quick phone call confirmed it.

is there anyway to determine if my car has been tuned or had a trial other than what the previous owner says?
i've looked thru the log book and found 2 different place the vehicle was serviced at...
1st - Euro Automotive Tuning & Services (Giraween) 0410-541-322
2nd - Central Automotive Transmission Services (Rosebury)
anyone of these place capable of trial installs that may have happened when the car got serviced?

Well the first one is Seb - sponsor on here and he could have been asked to put on a GIAC tune or a Unitronic (I left them off the list too) tune depending on when it was done but it is not the thing a workshop would do for a laugh it would have been requested by an owner. In any case I thought it had now been established that a Revo tune is on there anyway and that rules Seb/Euro Auto out
I might start locking my stuff too because I feel a bit left out :)

Agreed here , not many vendors offer the trial so im sure if it has other software it has already been tuned?? Only time ive ever seen that code was with an ecu that had been flashed or corrupted in some way. Bluefin on a Mk5 is a piece of cake to be honest.
Cheers

I suggest you go see your local bluefin dealer if you want to pursue that option, everyone is only guessing at this stage. It could be a bad hand held unit, it could be a bad Can Line from the OBD port, it could be a bad factory ECU.
Any specialist workshop should be able to do that.

If your still stuck I dont mind plugging in one of my boxes or cables just let see what's happening and let you know what your options are. It doesn't take more than a minute or two tops
Much as it pains me to do it I can see myself caving in and doing some full writes in the future.
